The Dry Valley Gamblers formed in the month of October, 2006. The band is a rather unique assemblage of musicians, with 3 of the band members having backgrounds in heavy metal, one in electronic dance music, one in bluegrass, punk and classic rock and all five sharing a deep love for American roots music. The sound of the music draws strongly from bluegrass, but blues, country and folk influences all come together to achieve the end result. If that result should mean that you dance all night with a bottle in your hand then, in our eyes, we have done our job. That being said, perhaps another mission of the band is to keep alive the music that is quickly disappearing in today’s fast-paced, superficial society. With popular music destroying American culture, we like to think of ourselves as defenders of it. Jimmy Rodgers, Woody Guthrie, Leadbelly, Bill Monroe, Jerry Garcia and so many other American heroes are gone now, but in their honor we will stand firmly against the rising tide of today's pop music.
