The Music of DANIELE
SPADAVECCHIA is the crossroad where New Orleans meets the
Mediterranean. Django Reinhardt, Swing, Italian melodies and the love
for gypsy music such as flamenco and swing manouche are the key
elements igniting this fun, entertaining and colorful performance.
He has been playing guitar and singing for twenty four years, and arrived in
New Orleans in 2002 where he started the band Sicilian Swing, a mix of
Louis Prima, Dean Martin and Italian melodies from the ‘50s.
There, he also perfected the style of gypsy jazz, playing with Tony
Green and Gypsy Jazz.
Then, he spent a year in Arizona playing flamenco in the local music
scene and gypsy jazz with members of the Hot Club of Tucson and the Hot Club of Phoenix, as well as local Jazz musicians.
Daniele performed for the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival,
French Quarter Festival, Festa Italiana in Washington DC, Festa
Siciliana in San Diego, live TV and radio shows, theaters, and many
conventions and cultural events. During July 2004 he also recorded a CD
titled “NOTTE ITALIANA”.
Daniele Spadavecchia regularly performs and teaches gypsy jazz and
rumba flamenco guitar in San Diego, check his web page for more info.
