Every member of Dr. Thunder & the Generic Sodas knew they would be together someday. They didn't quite know what it is that they knew, but they knew it would be something big. They just didn't know each other yet.
Twist Up had spent 3 years as a beggar on the streets of New Orleans (he was exiled from a boy band) when he heard from a fellow beggar about his collegiate choral experience at Luther College.
Mountain Lightning had been meditating in a monastery for 3 years in the Alps when God finally spoke to him. "Luther," He said, "Luther College."
Dr. Thunder had been playing in a continuous game of ultimate frisbee for 3 years when he got a disc right in the temple on a defensive bid. In his comatose state, he had a dream about Luther College.
The Dr. Thunder and the two other generic sodas arrived on campus in the fall of 2002 ready for the academic rigor that Luther would provide. The three of them knew, though, that while they are always students first, something was waiting for them (but they didn't know what it was, remember?). And then.
Mountain Lightning was meditating in his dorm room when he heard a knock on the door. He answered it and saw Twist Up standing in the doorway, wanting to know if Mountain Lightning had the new N*Sync CD. Just as he was about to respond (he didn't have it - he only listened to Gregorian chant), a frisbee bounced off the door and into Mountain Lightning's room. The frisbee belonged to none other than Dr. Thunder. They all introduced themselves, and were surprised to find out that they all had a fond appreciation for peach tea. Twist Up made a few cups and 10 minutes later, their first single, "Texas Jack" was recorded. 5 minutes after that, they had a whole album's worth of material.
The band is currently in the middle of their Reunion/Farewell Tour.
