When the explosion of Latin rap began in the early 90’s, Lighter Shade of Brown (LSOB) was formed in Riverside, CA. It was in 1990, when then teenager ODM (One Dope Mexican, born Robert Gutierrez) was introduced to DTTX (Don't Try to Xerox, born Bobby Ramirez). The duo began cutting demos and secured a record deal within the year. They debuted “Brown and Proud” for Quality Records Hip-Hop subsidiary Pump in the 1990’s. Though they didn't break out on the level of Cypress Hill, the group garnered some positive reviews and established themselves as one of the better Latin Rap outfits around. That album featured three hit singles “T.J. Nights”, “On a Sunday Afternoon” and “Latin Active”. Their follow-up album, “Hip Hop Locos”, was released in 1992, and helped LSOB land a major-label shot with Mercury, where they contributed to the soundtracks of the Latino-oriented films “Mi Vida Loca” and “I Like It Like That”. 1994's full-length “Layin' in the Cut” also featured the hit single "Hey DJ”. Soon after, the disillusioned partners took a temporary break from the music business. They returned in 1997 on Thump Records issuing a self-titled album with guests including Rappin' 4-Tay and Tony! Toni! Toné!'s Dwayne Wiggins, which contained the hit single “What Ever U Want”. Thump released a greatest hits collection in 1999. Their fifth album, “If You Could See Inside Me”, followed, producing the hit single "Sunny Day”. Now, 10 years later, with the addition of a new member, Lighter Shade of Brown is set to release its much-anticipated album in 2009......... DTTX was a founding member of the 1990’s gold selling group Lighter Shade of Brown, who recorded for Mercury Records. Throughout the 1990's, DTTX remained an invaluable contributor to Lighter Shade of Brown 's success, both as a producer and as a rapper, making him one of the more renowned Chicano rappers in the game. Also affiliated with the Low Profile Gangsters, DTTX went solo in the early 2000's, beginning with 2001's “Back 2 Da Brown”, which featured an impressive roster of Chicano peers. “Stuck in Da Game” features 13 new and unreleased songs compiled by DTTX. Guest artists include Lil Blacky, Lil Sicko, Da Fern, and DJ Fabe. All tracks feature the distinctive rap that made DTTX so popular in the group Lighter Shade of Brown. Latin Rap at its Best!
