doctor, this virus is silence was founded with a purpose for creating music that is based on direct emotion. Many of the songs surpass the six minute mark and draw on progressive and post-rock influences. The Chicago veterans released their debut LP 'an existence in terms of yes or no' on Actionsdower Records.
'an existence...' is an ambitious first project as full a narrative. It's not just a collection of themes, but a story with every element of the music contributing to that narrative. The album follows the story of a protagonist who doubts control over their own destiny and faces tragic consequences.
A common interest in non-traditional authors, such as Phillip K. Dick, Kurt Vonnegut Jr., and William Gibson, inspired the band to write the album. Matt Talbott (Hum) at Great Western Record Recorders engineered and mixed 'an existence...' entirely in analog.
Devil has the Best Tuna had this to say about DTVIS' debut album, "It's challenging music that may be a world away from the three chord thrash but it shares punk's nihilism, assaulting the senses like At The Drive In after an adrenaline shot or Dillinger Escape Plan on benzedrine."
On June 17th, 2009 the group played their last show at Reggie's Rock Club with Traindodge and Zebulon Pike, only 5 months after releasing their debut album.

hey brandon, we appreciate the offer, but we're pretty set with our pre-production and recording schedule for the next year or so. we track and self-produce our pre-pro demos in our space usually, and that's working out for us for now. that said, we write a lot and can always use a new demo track if you have a spare afternoon ;-)
