About Du4

Du4 (Formerly Du4 Roux) Du4 as in Cherie DuFour Mystic VooDoo Rock !!! The bone deep, soul grippin', guitar rippin, voodoo groovin, N'Awlins funky style of Du4 is the creation of none other than Cherie DuFour. Du4, a power trio, is comprised of three exceptional musicians. Cherie, lead guitar and vocalist, is joined by Glenn Tapia and Amy Shelley. Glenn brings to Du4 an extreme amount of grooving / funkin’ clean bass thumpin' backbone of the sauce while Amy carries some second line groove and killer chops that will leave you in awe! This power trio throws down rhythmic grooves and second line funk that will keep you movin’!!! Cherie, not only chops up her collection of Gibson Les Paul’s, she is also an avid songwriter and vocalist who was born and raised deep in the bayou, in N'Awlins. Some of her musical influences such as SRV, Buddy Guy, Dr. John, Howlin Wolf, Etta James, and the Meters have been instrumental in Cherie establishing her unique musical talent while providing her with a well rounded unique vocal style and guitar technique rarely achieved, regardless of gender. Watching Cherie engage herself into the core performance with her guitar has been known to be quite mesmerizing and spellbinding. The sultry, swampy, raw unrefined, rare voice of Ms. DuFour has developed over the years as has her unique, rhythmic, guitar groove. Picking up her first guitar at the age of 9, she knew she was destined for a career in music when she made her first live stage performance at the age of 13. She quickly developed a style and sound of her own with a foundation based on N'Awlins Funk and second line groove. DuFour has played with and opened for bands such as Zebra, Cory Stevens, Charmaine Neville and CoCo Robicheaux. She has written and recorded numerous originals, such as Louisiana Woman ©, Fuel ©, Fortress ©, Fade Away ©, Top Shelf ©, and Trail in the Sky © (a ballad), which can be found on her “Front Porch” all original CD released in 2005. Cherie's songs are greatly influenced by her N’Awlins upbringing and heritage. Cherie mixes her unique talent of New Orleans voodoo beats with swampy mystic grooves of the south. Cherie, a deeply rooted Louisianan with a profound French heritage, has a unique raw talent that is on the upsurge. Her music, played from the depths of her soul, depicts the raw Creole flair of N'Awlins funk she refers to as:
