Most of you know me as Ben Williams, D.C. area upright/ electric bassist. (B-Dub=alter ego). Born and raised in Washington, D.C.; Graduated from Duke Ellington School of the Arts in 2002 (..9); I recently graduated from Michigan State University where I studied with the world-reknowned bassist, Rodney Whitaker. I perform and compose various styles of music including jazz, R&B, Soul, Gospel, Classical... I try to do it all. Basically, music is my life- I live, breathe, and eat it as much and as often as I can. I believe there is beauty in all styles of music, so there's no use in putting yourself in a box. I have performed quite a bit in my relatively short time on this earth; I have performed with Wynton Marsalis, Terence Blanchard, Roy Hargrove, Stefon Harris, Mulgrew Miller, Cyrus Chestnut, Karriem Riggins, Nicholas Payton, Ron Blake, Christian McBride Big Band, Steve Nelson, Carlos McKinney, John Hicks, Terreon Gully, Donald Harrison, Delfeayo Marsalis, Bilal Salaam, Raheem Devaughn, W. Ellington Felton, James Williams, Marcus Belgrave, Nneena Freelon, Sean Jones, and plenty others; Opened for John Legend, Kirk Franklin, Eric Roberson, Herbie Hancock. Awards include 1st place in 2005 ISB (International Society of Bassists) competition (jazz division), 2nd place Fish Middleton Jazz Scholarship competition (2002); 3rd place Fish Middleton Jazz Scholarship competition (2000). I'm currently working on my Master's Degree at the Juilliard School. Stay tuned, Ben Williams (and B-Dub) is on his way. (To where? who knows!?)

Yo baby, that URBANUS is slamming. Only on my first listen, but you're showing your ass on Shake It For Me, Minor March, They Won't Go, and The Afterthought. Good stuff, bruh. I looked the CD up on the strength of the Bass Player mag review, but was very pleasantly surprised to see you, Casey, and Terreon. Congrats, homie.
Start my upright lessons again tomorrow. Studying with Reggie Hamilton. Looking forward to it. Right now I'm only playing with other cats when I'm rehearsing for my gigs so it's time to step up my overall playing...
