DUB is a style of reggae that originated in the studios of Jamaica in the early mid and late seventies. The producers like Mad Professor, King Tubby, Scientist and Lee "scratch" Perry would take a song or a "rhythm" and remix it into several different "versions".
We in the Dub Championz make this music live on stage right before your eyes. The foundation of this music is the drums and bass. Bassist, Lennox Holness lays down very solid crucial grooves imported from Jamaica. Lennox has had an extensive career with groups all over the world. On the drumz is Davee C who's tireless daily schedule of performing both locally and abroad has included stints with Eek-A-Mouse, Phat Sidy Smokehouse, Selassie I Soldier and years on the road with reggae legend, pioneer and musical wizard Clinton Fearon. Jason Cameron on guitar whose past stints with reggae heavies Ipso Facto which included a special performance at the world famous Apollo Theater really puts a twist on the rhythms with both his playing and his unique vocal style. New to the group is saxophonist Big Talk Jon Ryser bringing in the dubbed-out alto and baritone saxophones. Big Talk spent years on the road with Phat Sidy Smokehouse, made records with the Ganja Farmers, and too many artists to list here,. He currently performs regularly with Marmalade. JC Bogle has joined us as keyboardist. JC understands the true elements of dub. He drops a delay hit just when you need it.
The Dub Championz have been known to feature some guests to our family such as Pete Dub who's attention to detail as a live dub engineer is unmatched as well as an unending list of other skills including the building of Dubtrain Studios and live engineering of the new dub super group Faculty Of Dub who include none other than Burning Spears drummer Nelson Miller and Clinton Fearon on Bass and is also featured on a few Dubchampz tracks playing steel drums. Leif Dalan makes his home playing keyboards with the seminal incredible Seattle reggae band Nuffsedd and with reggae all-star Prezident Brown. Chris "C.D." Littlefield who tours and records with Karl Densons Tiny Universe, brings a mean space trumpet that takes the music to far out spaces. Last and certainly not least, we bring Adrian Xavier whose multi-talent is at times mind boggling; juggling skills such as writing, producing and performing on his latest release "R Nature" to spinning the ones and twos.
The Dub Championz perform regularly as well as working as a backing band to other artist. Artists the Champz have backed include Junior P and Rocker T, the original singer for the super group Ska-Dank. So keep your eyes and ears peeled for the Dub Championz, you dont know where they will pop up.

We will also be joined by Huckleberry at the show at WAIDS (Seattle) on Friday.
