ALBUM REVIEWS
Too Many Days (2008)
"Finally this week, we stay with the reggae end of the spectrum for a groovy maxi-EP from Brisbane act Dubdoubt. Prior to hearing Too Many Days (available through Fresh Bread/Shogun), I wasn’t too familiar with the New Zealander-led sextet, though after hearing it quite a few times, I’m definitely keen to hear more! As their name suggests, Dubdoubt are something of a dub reggae band, though there’s definitely more to the story. Funk plays a large part, as does a rootsy essence of the blues, as well as some pretty lively reggae too. If you think along the lines of a funky Bob Marley with a touch of the blues, you’d be coming close. No matter how you describe it, this is definitely excellent stuff. Even though there are only six tracks, Too Many Days packs a hell of a punch, and will quite happily enjoy a reasonable amount of rotation. Very nice indeed… and maybe the band will head our way soon too!" Rip It Up Magazine (Adelaide), June 2008
"Damn this is a catchy little EP. To be more precise, this is the kinda dubbed-out funk that you expect to come out of NZ via Salmonella Dub and Fat Freddys Drop. Chilled yet brisk in it's pace, six tracks across 30 minutes, Dubdoubt have pieced together a journey that'd be right at home as the soundtrack to a lazy canoe trip across a sun soaked blue lagoon. 'Frank, do me good' is a standout for me." Scene Magazine, May 2008

Sunshine & Scenery (2006)
“Summer is upon us again folks… this means summer vibes, and summer tunes, and with the release of Dubdoubt’s debut LP Sunshine and Scenery, Brisbane has found its summer soundtrack.” Time Off, January 2007
"The sound, as the album title suggests, is fresh and colourful. The horn section adds just enough depth to the sound without becoming tedious and overbearing. There is a similarity with the likes of Fat Freddy's Drop, but the sextet has managed to keep the sound original. Being Brisbane boys (mostly), they have added testimony to the diversity of the local music scene. No doubt, the sounds of Dubdoubt will be heard coming from parties and beachside car parks up and down the coast for many summers to come". Sunshine and Scenery (Fresh bread) 8/10. Tsunami Magazine, February 2007
What's that flavour? (2005)
"Well summer is here already, so it’s fitting that a dub record be one of the first great summer releases. Six local guys make up dubdoubt and boy, do they know how to convince the listener to have a cold beer on a hot afternoon. Muter trumpets, funk-ridden bass and inventive saxophones make it clear that Hayden Andrews and Co. are ripe to take Salmonella Dub’s crown. Not before time too. Just take one listen to “Reggie” and for a few minutes you won’t have a care in the world. Scene Magazine, December 2005"
