All good music ranging from, Reggae, Rock, Punk, Alternative, Hip Hop, Dancehall, Ska, Jazz, Metal, Acoutic, Folk, Blues...If you just listen it's all there!!!
I had just finished inventing a new combination of General Tso’s Chicken and Egg-Drop Soup* when Joe Sell convinced me that the best way to avoid eating a hot lead brunch was to dust off my saxophone and join his reggae band. Little did I know that less than eight months after quitting my shitty day job, I would be touring the country with the Horny Hornet, Professor 40-Bag, and The Liberty Stick. No, dear reader, these are not superheroes, but rather things we used to agitate the genitals of our frontman. Except the first one. That was our RV when we went on tour in 2008.
So we play reggae and punk. And ska. And alternative and sometimes jazz and occasionally something approaching hip-hop. And we must be pretty okay at it because Drummie Zeb likes us. We’ll play anywhere you damn well want us to. We’d love to play on the Warped Tour instead of just sneaking in like we did last time. One of our roadies doesn’t shower and the other is a violent maniac, but I won’t tell you which is which. Fair warning. If our drummer looks like he’s going to die when he’s playing, don’t worry about it. If he stops playing and bleeds from the ears, you could probably call the hospital. If any of our former drummers do that, just let ‘em go, man.
Get an audience together that likes to dance and have fun and they’ll fucking love us. Get a bunch of dour metalheads together and they’ll like the part in the one song where Bobby yells stuff. We’ve played an inordinate number of shows at places where people have been stabbed, so our street cred is not a concern. We are fairly certain that nobody got stabbed specifically because of us, but who can say? I will guarantee that we won’t stab you if you give us someplace to play music. If you give us a record contract, you won’t even have to worry about our violent maniac roadie.
*1. Fill a cup/bowl with General Tso’s Chicken. Don’t pack it in or anything.
1b. Add some chili oil if you want.
2. Fill with Egg-Drop Soup to top of cup/bowl.
3. Stir.
4. Eat that shit, man. It’s delicious.
Love,
Marcus Brody
