'Stories For Another Day' Out now through Laughing Outlaw/Inertia.
Balancing precariously on a musical point somewhere in the middle of folk, rock, and pop, Duckdive are a 6 piece band from Melbourne who are pushing musical boundaries and having a great time along the way. After beginning as an acoustic duo and expanding into a 12 piece monstrosity, Duckdive have settled into life as a six piece band and are making their mark all around the country.
Sorta folk, sorta pop, sorta rock, sometimes sweet and sometimes sad, but always different – this maxi band, mini orchestra are an act like no other.
Duckdive released their debut album ‘Stories for Another Day’ through Laughing Outlaw Records in July last year. The album features ten beautiful tracks, ranging from melancholy and disarmingly honest ballads to bouncy, energetic pop numbers – as well as special guest performances from James Hazelden (Ang Fang Quartet / Man Bites God), Jadey O’Regan (Jane vs World) and Mijo Biscan (Lamplight).
‘Stories for Another Day’ was launched to a full house at the Northcote Social Club and quickly gained praise from around the country. The first single, Sleeptalker, has been receiving national airplay through Triple J, and the album is receiving airplay on local stations all around Australia.
Having already played at some of Australia's best venues with some of the best musical talent (Deborah Conway, Skipping Girl Vinegar, The Little Stevies, Perry Keyes, Special Patrol, Lamplight, Scott Edgar and the Universe, Hazel Brown, to name just a few) and with recent appearances at the Apollo Bay and Wintermoon music festivals under their belts, Duckdive’s star is certainly on the rise!
What the reviewers have said about ‘Stories for Another Day’:
'Duckdive are a pure blast of imagination and creativity in a genre known for its stubborn resistance to change.' ~ Bruce Elder, Sydney Morning Herald
'Duckdive’s debut is, quite simply, one of the finest indie-folk albums you’ll hear this year.' ~ Beat Magazine review
'There's a big folky treasure trove on 'Stories for Another Day'...four stars out of five.' ~ MAG (JB Hi Fi Magazine) review
'These are honest, beautiful songs about long-distance love and loneliness. You get the feeling 'Stories For Another Day' is the start of something big for Duckdive.' ~ Jeff Jenkins, Inpress Magazine
'In a world of brash, disposable trends, Duckdive are the cool antithesis, the thinking person’s pop... their songs are like precious little notes you find folded up." ~ Helen Barradell, Beat Magazine

Are you citing ‘I Want You (She's So Heavy)’ as an influence but no other Beatles songs, or is there a band called ‘I Want You (She's So Heavy)’? Either way, that’s awesome. Great tunes guys.
