Welcome to Duel Calibres Myspace. Duel Calibre are Jimmy and Shane.
Starting off separately, Shane, took piano and guitar lessons from his early teens. He also developed the talent for singing/song writing skills. After school and a few talent competitions he obtained the taste for production via Fruity Loops 3. This led him to a music Technology course at St Albans College.
Jimmy, aka Torqux, got into music much later. Growing up he listened to old school rave tunes and his Dads massive CD/vinyl collection. With the help of Shane and Fruity Loops Jimmy got into production around 18. He started off making DnB tracks and loved it so much he went to Hatfield Uni to study Music Technology for 3 years.
After the first few months of Uni Jimmy was taught how to use Reason 2.5 and loved it. He showed Shane and since that moment they have made tracks together.
Both having a love for US Rap, looking up to producers such as Timbaland, Dre and The Neptunes, they initially produced Hip Hop tracks. In their opinion US Rap is heading in the wrong direction, with artists like LL Cool J saying stuff like zuh zuh zuh zuuh zzzzuh on his tracks of poorly made pop.
Turning back home for relief, with the influence of friends, Duel Calibre started listening to the UK sounds. Hip Hop, acts such as Phi-Life Cypher, Underground Alliance and Roots Manuva were rinsed in the CD player.
One of the main stages for the UK scene apart from London is Brighton. After a few nights out Duel Calibre discovered Break Beat. It combines Hip Hop, DnB and Dance music all in one genre. There are many types of breaks but the Duel Calibre sound is the tear-out, nuskool style.
They have been working together for 5 years in their own studio with a G5 and Logic 7 Pro.
