Bio
“What’s your band called?” “The Duelling Winos.” “The Who?” “No, that’s Pete Townshend’s band…” Some say that their drummer's great-great grandfather invented the Germans, and that their singer was a Roman wheel maker in a previous life. All we know is...they're called The Duelling Winos! Legend has it that they play proper tunes. They don't do screaming or make strange growling noises. They don't do big words (mainly coz none of them own a Thesaurus) to describe what they are. The music speaks for itself. They like writing melodic songs, because it stops the music from sounding like one long epic drone. Most of all, they love to engage with a crowd, because they know that there is nothing more soul destroying than watching a band that's about as exciting as spending your Saturday afternoon shopping for curtains. Since forming in late 2008, The Duelling Winos have gigged regularly at Glasgow’s best music venues – Barrowlands, Barfly, Box, Renfrew Ferry, Twisted Wheel, Cosmopol and Ivory Blacks to name just a few. The Duelling Winos are influenced by many bands including: Ocean Colour Scene, The Kinks, The Killers The Who, The Beatles, The Verve, Oasis and Queen. Certainly a band that never claims to have reinvented the musical wheel, the lads tell their fans: “We’re like nothing you’ve never heard before! For us, music’s not necessarily about its reinvention; it’s about doing what we do well, enjoying ourselves and making sure that people have a good time with us. We’ll leave the Post modern Cyber-synth rock to the bands with strange hair cuts who count Apple Macs as instruments.” With a strong internet presence and a steadily growing fan base, the band have performed extensively, and started work on their first studio album in late 2009, which they hope to release around October/November 2010. The band's first single, "Someday/One For The Weekend" was released for download on Friday, 27th November 2009, with all proceeds going to Teenage Cancer Trust. "Someday/One For The Weekend" is available on iTunes, Napster, HMV, Nokia Music, and all good download stores worldwide. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ......Someday promo video...... .. .. .. .. .. ......Duelling Winos(NOW ON iTunes).. | ..MySpace Music Videos.... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ............< -
