DuEwa began her journey as a professional artist in 1999 at Philadelphia's New Market Theatre. Since then, her artistic endeavors have known no boundaries in her work as a poet, performer, author, arts activist, and educator. She became a member of the spoken word scene in New York City after her time in Philly, and has been privileged to share the stage with many notable performers. DuEwa has produced and hosted numerous arts events in New York City and other locations. She is an MFA Candidate in Creative Writing at The New School. Her work has been published online, in magazines, and literary journals... .. You may have experienced DuEwa's hip hop jazz lyricism and inspiring readings at venues such as: The Nuyorican, Bowery Poetry, LQ, The Shrine, Bohemian Caverns, Wordstock, Panoramic Poetry, Food 4 Thought, Solomon's Porch, bushbaby, Karibu, La Pena Center, Robin's Books, Temple University, Five Spot, U. of Pennsylvania-Writers House, West Virgina Wesleyan, Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz and others! She is the author of two volumes of poetry (..Shedding Light From My Journeys.. and ..Stardust Tracks on a Road..) and the editor of the NAACP Image Award nominated anthology, ..Check the Rhyme: An Anthology of Female Poets & Emcees...
