Duff Press Background
With over 15 years experience as a pr in the UK, Duff Battye has run Duff Press independently for seven years (Duff previously worked for Virgin and then Arista/BMG).
Previous clients include Aerosmith, The Artist (Prince), Puff Daddy, Outkast, Run DMC, Slayer, TLC, Meshuggah, Pearl Jam, Thin Lizzy, Meat Loaf, Ice T, Cassius, Hank Williams III, Reuben, Perry Farrell's Satellite Party, Lordi, Incubus, Nightwish, Testament, Megadeth, Alice In Chains, Joseph Arthur and Usher.
Duff Press' current roster (in no particular order) includes Velvet Revolver, Eddie Vedder, The Nightwatchman (Tom Morello), Scott Weiland, Ice Cube, Mudvayne, Exit Calm, Maylene And The Sons Of Disaster, Gibson Guitars, deluxe re-issues for Metallica and Lynyrd Skynryd, The Wildhearts, Lady Lykez, Puscifer, Hard Rock Hell and Hammerfest festivals, Les Paul, Duff McKagan's Loaded, Sucioperro, Everest, Year Long Disaster, Sign, Tool, th’ Legendary Shack*Shakers and Def Leppard.
Duff Press also handle pr duties for Hopeless Records (All Time Low, The Human Abstract), Indie Recordings (Enslaved, Keep Of Kalessin, Audrey Horne and more) and Superball (Oceansize, Cog, ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead and Pure Reason Revolution)...
We have also consulted for RCA Records, Eastpak, Jackie Cooper PR (Snickers account), MTV and 21st Century Leaders (charity involving bands such as Green Day, Mastodon and Ozzy). The consultancy for 21st Century Leaders involved running press campaigns on behalf and in conjunction with the likes of Vans, Virgin megastores and Bravado merchandise.
Duff Battye was shortlisted for the 2005 Music Week Awards “PR Campaign of the Year” for his work with Velvet Revolver. In one year Duff Press placed 24 national covers on the band in a campaign lasting 16 months.
Duff Press also run the label Maybe Records. The label have released records from Lacuna, We Made God and Sucioperro to date. The label gives Duff Press a working experience of distribution, retail and production aspects of record releases.
Duff Battye has formerly signed a number of record deals as an artist (including Mercury Records)- giving him and Duff Press a unique insight into pr from a bands perspective. Duff has also written for the likes of The Sunday Times, GQ (US), Clash magazine, TV Hits, the 2005 Athletics World Championship programme and Sport Diver as a freelance journalist.
Jon Jones also writes for Clash magazine and informs us that he is "class".
