I was born on 19 February 1960 at Buckingham Palace, the second son and the third child of The Queen Elizabeth II and The Duke of Edinburgh.
Named Andrew Albert Christian Edward, I was created The Duke of York, Earl of Inverness and Baron Killyleagh, when I married Sarah Ferguson. Although now divorced Sarah and I have two lovely daughters, Beatrice and Eugenie, and they are my pride and joy.
I have always enjoyed sport. Golf (with a current handicap of five) being my favourite, but I also enjoy skiing, swimming and most ball sports.
I have a huge passion for flying and learnt to fly a glider with the Air Training Corps and also, along with my brother Prince Charles, learnt to parachute, earning my Parachutist's badge from the Royal Air Force prior to joining the Royal Navy, where I learnt to fly many fine Planes and helicopters.
After joining the Royal Navy in 1979 I served on many fine ships including HMS INVINCIBLE where I sailed as part of the Task Force to the South Atlantic to regain the Falkland Islands. Flying in varyous missions including Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) and Anti-Surface Warfare search (ASUW). I also helped in casualty evacuation, transport and Search and Air Rescue (SAR).
I retired from the Navy with the rank of Commander in 2001 and In July 2005 I was promoted to Honorary Captain.
Currently I work as the UK's Special Representative for International Trade and Investment. Which isn't as fun as the Navy, but life can't be all fun and games can it?
