Hailing from up and down the coast of California, the Dukes of Ted are a group of five young musicians who set out to create sounds with the grooves and passion of Soul Music and the power and fury of Rock n’ Roll.
It began in Laguna Beach, California where drummer Gabriel Rabben, keyboardist David Bennett, and guitarist Keith Okie played in bands together throughout high school. They went their separate ways, to college and beyond. It was here, studying music at Humboldt State University that Keith met bassist Adrian Engfer and saxophonist Mirco Altenbach. After leaving school in 2005 and touring the west in a 1963 school bus, they landed in Boulder Colorado in 2007, where they were reunited with Gabe, then studying at the University of Colorado. Needing keyboards to fill out their sound they called David, still working furiously away at his music in Laguna.
With the full band finally together under one roof in June of 2007, work began on a new repertoire and a demo to showcase their sound. Cutting their teeth on crowds in the Denver/Boulder metro area it became obvious that they had found the right combination. The grooves of Adrian and Gabe in the rhythm section mingle seamlessly with the passionate playing and lead vocals of Keith and David and the soaring horns of Mirco. This large sound combined with tight vocal harmonies makes up the Dukes of Ted. In addition to their musicianship it is their sex-appeal and captivating songwriting that will write the new chapter in, “Rock n’ Soul.”
