With all the buzz and hype surrounding E3 this year, its good to see some third party developers really making a strong showing this year with some promising releases. There is one developer in particular that is making a lesser known splash in RPG world.

The developer this year that no one is talking about is Brian Sauer, the man that brought the world Calculus the Video Game, Slippery Slope, and the critically acclaimed Dungeons of Fear (DoF). To date, none have cracked more than a profit, but Mr. Sauer has his eyes fixed on a blockbuster with his newest project - Dungeons of Fear 2.

That's right. A sequel to what some call, "the greatest video gaming challenge ever." But re-imagined. No longer text based, DoF2 will play as an overhead RPG. When asked about the game, this is what the creator had to say.

"The revolution begins with DOF2. This game has the potential to be incredible if I get enough people to jump on board. I cannot describe why in words, you'll have to see. It's code is my greatest work: lean, mean, flexible and fast."

Recently, Brian Sauer's website - where he communicated to the rest of the DoF community - was closed down. This seemingly negative event caused a rather positive reaction. A new website is in the works now, one that will rival other gaming sites such as Bungie and InfinityWard.

"The website will get a new look but keep a lot of the old style, but will be sleeker and more appealing aesthetically," says Brian. "No more competitions. Just a Hall of Fame. No more development page. And I will discontinue the download of some older games, but they will remain showcased in the DOF Museum."

Brian Sauer has not settled on a release date, but says that DoF2 will be available for download sometime this summer. As for the website, he is constantly at work on it, updating and improving it.

"The revolution is coming. Summer 2009."
