About me:
I was born and raised in Glenolden, Pa and had spent my summers in Cape May, NJ where I spent countless hours fishing the Pennsylvania Reservoirs and New Jersey shores with my father and friend, Joe Loyko. My passion for wildlife inspired me to create many early pencile, watercolor fish and whitetail deer pieces that we studied while exploring the Pennsylvania woods and the Jersey shore. I have been an artist since the age of five, when at that time I saw the movie Jaws and became obsessed with sharks and the oceans. This was my first major inspiration to paint marine wildlife and the ocean. From that point on I began my quest to gather as much information on the ocean and creatures that live in it. Graduated from Interboro High School in 1988 and in 1989 attended Hussian School of Art for one year. To support myself during and after art school, I went into the construction business while painting marine wildlife and backdrops on the side for the famous New Years Philadelphia Mummers Parade. In 1992 I went into my art career full time due to the success of my first public Endangered Species Mural painted in Folcroft, Pa. The impact and exposure the mural demanded inspired me to paint murals around the world in order to help protect the Endangered Species. Today a core motivator is to use my art and murals as a vehicle to reach the masses and raise awareness for the endangered species and our threatened ocean planet. To date, I painted 54 life sized and larger than life murals along the Eastern Seaboard from Atlantic City, New Jersey, to Islamorada in the Florida Keys, the Bahamas Islands, and the largest environmental awareness mural on the continent of Australia at the Melbourne Aquarium to name a few. Along the way and as these murals evolved we developed a kids’ interactive educational arts program that is designed to increase global awareness, stewardship, and influence children of all ages to show exactly why our ocean planet is in need of our help. One of our missions is to pass on educational material to children as they are painting with me and teach them about positive solutions that could help protect our ocean planet for future generations. Through art, education, life size and larger than life public wall murals, we are able to spread my dream of a healthy ocean planet to millions worldwide.
