Bio
Winner of the Gold Coast Gig Competition at the Trocadero Surfers paradise.. Appeared on the soundtrack for Billabong surf dvd for Brendan"Margo"Margieson which was distributed internationally.. Appeared on the soundtrack for surf film HOME which was distributed internationally.. Voted number 1 single & filmclip in Australia for channel v,s channel U.. Supported big name acts such as John Butler Trio, Jack Johnson, Jebediah, Thirsty Merc and Iota to name a few. ...... .. Describing his music as 'ROCK N SOUL', Jackson Dunn is one of the fastest acoustic roots guitarists you may see. His presence on stage quite simply burns from undiluted passion. His music bleeds with feeling, writing from plenty of personal experiences and touching on real shit like the darkside of love and the worth of family. Seeing him play live, guitar swinging off his shoulders, fingers or beer bottle flying up and down the fret board is unlike any soul show you've treated your ears and eyeballs to before.. The man don't bite on the traditionally hippy-drivel, all to often encompassed in popular"soul" artists of the current day, instead he rips right into his show with his own unique blend of tune and his own unique voice. Trust me, once you hear the first strum of guitar, you'll know this guy is bringing something special. And goddamn, its good. Jackson has been tweaking the steel strings for over two decades and thanks his Philippino-born mother for his introduction to the world of music. As far back as Jackson can remember his guitar has always been there."like an intension of my hands"he says, and like most musicians Jackson's life naturally revolves around his music. Says Jackson" A life without music is impossible, cos we,ve all been given a heart beat and I can dance to that". Based on the Gold Coast, Jackson has show cased his music throughout australia. But always loves playing to a home crowd the best and has gained a strong following within the Gold Coast posse. Sounds Like
Over the years Jackson strayed from the usual guitar tunings and has developed his own unique guitar tuning. Making it easy to recognise his music. He loves to rock out impromptu jams and smash his guitar as much as he loves to serenade an audience with his beautiful ballads and heart felt lyrics. But with influences as varied as Ben Harper, Tori Amos and Lenny Kravittz to Eminem, Tool and Tupac Shakur, the easiest way to describe his music is, wait for it... Acoustic, rock with hip hop soul.
