We've got a recording session organised with Alan Smythe at the end of Jan 2010 that was part of the battle of bands prize, looking forward to getting some input from someone of his stature, and the association with his name won't do us any harm either!
Its rare to find a band that can keep your attention from curtain rise to curtain fall.....until now!
DURBAN can do this and have the added bonus of owning probably the finest vocalist in town. He's got the kind of tonsils that have that extra tone of originality that keeps you static, listening and enjoying every juicy little note.
FUCKIN WONDERFULL !!!
Coma Magazine - July 06
DURBAN are a four piece band hailing from Sheffield goin from strength to strength after a fantastic year in 07 seeing them support sell out gigs with the likes of Air Traffic, Tom Hingeley (Inspiral Carpets) , Passenger & The complete Stone Roses.
Quick Bio- more to come:
Playing a blend of guitar rock music with psychedelic tinges, Durban are an original 4-piece band from Sheffield. The band have just returned from a session at Foel Studios.
Gigging is always a priority & towards maintaining the bands profile playing venues such as Sheffield Academy2, Leadmill & the Camden Barfly. Durban have just been included in a Darnall Music Factory album ‘Sheffield Raw’ a new compilation of some good bands from the steel city which features their new track, the bands name is being kept at the forefront of the vibrant Sheffield music scene, & all that stuff.
GOOD VENUE ALERT!
The John O Gaunt in Blackstock Rd has had a reputation in the past but it's in the hands of Shep & Sarah of the Druids MC, so no trouble unless someone stupidly decides to start with them. They are as cool as, & after our gig there the hospitality was impressive and we left with wobbly legs. The room is fantastic, carpeted, settees to chill on, good acoustics & one of the best places to see a band that I've been to for a while.
A mini Sheffield festival 4th-6th September. Spread across two great venues; The Harley and The Wick at Both Ends. Click the poster for full line-ups.
Headliners include: The Crookes, Max Tundra, Paul White, JFB, Dark Sparks, Shmoo, Findo Gask, Ed Maker (Reverend & The Makers), Party Horse (Ex Tiny Dancers), Hallo...I Love You (Ex Elle S'Appelle), Squire Of Gothos, Pygmy Globetrotters & many many more..
