REVIEWS OF "ALTERNATIVE ROUTE TO ALL DESTINATIONS">>>>>>>>>>
From Maverick magazine:
"I really loved this CD.The all round good feeling, the upbeat songs and the sparkling arrangements left me with a warm feeling and a spring in my step. All the songs are written by the group and are as good a bunch of modern folk songs as you'll find" ****
From Rock n Reel magazine:
" an album of consistently pleasing self compositions that blend country rock with the rootsy edge of Steve Earle & Lindisfarne and with a folkie's grasp of the instrumentals." ***
From fRoots magazine:
"An album that visits most corners of roots music within a good time framework. Catch it for country, folk, Cajun and all stops to an old fashioned rock n roll mentality. The Durbervilles make intelligent music to party along with." (thumbs up)
"(a)..feelgood collection of jaunty original numbers" - BBC Radio 2 Music Club
"..torches of Cajun..accordions, some sharp guitar licks" - Americana Uk
"The Durbervilles are quite rightly a legend and an institution" Tykes News
"(an)..infectiously upbeat record." Morley Observer
"..you can almost imagine Richard Thompson on guitar" - Stirrings

The Durbervilles meld of folk, roots and alt country has been entertaining big eared audiences in Yorkshire and beyond since the turn of the century. They have a reputation for enlivening everything from pure acoustic folk club shows to full scale electric sets on festival stages.
RECORD LABEL:
Soon after formation they founded their own label SPLID RECORDS which is the home for releases by The Durbervilles and other folk & roots artists. The Durbervilles have brought out three albums to date: Striving To Be Reasonable, The Ballpark Of Expectation (see live rendition of Raining Down from the album at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwWKTaZIk1E) and, most recently, Alternative Route To All Destinations. Distribution through Proper.
Their live set features numbers mostly written by the 3 founder members: Lee Walsh Vocals/12 String guitar/ Mouth organ, mandolin; David P Crickmore Acoustic & Electric Lead Gtr/Dobro/Lap & Pedal Steel/Mandola/Banjo/ B.Vocs / and Mark Boyce drums/percussion/B. vocs.. The three are complimented by blind ace accordionist/ vocalist Gus Taylor, with recent ad hoc help from Neil and Jude of Chumbawamba. Future shows will feature new recruit Ruth Wilde on double bass.
RADIO SHOW:
Their reputation for witty banter between numbers at gigs is probably what led to The Durbervilles radio shows on the BBC in Yorkshire. Now broadcasting every SUNDAY at 2000 hrs on BBC RADIO LEEDS and online at www.bbc.co.uk/radioleeds. Their past folk & roots specials have attracted high calibre guests including Kate Rusby, Richard Thompson, Seth Lakeman, Fairport Convention, Waterson:Carthy, Rachel Unthank & The Winterset, Steve Tilston and Maddy Prior.

Hey! How's the weather over there? I just want to let you know that i'm coming to the UK in late May/early June to play bass with Kevin Montgomery and Tommy Allsup. Tommy played guitar with Buddy Holly, and is THE guy that flipped the coin with Ritchie Valens. I figured that with you being a musician that you would really be able to appreciate this show. Kevin made a little video at my studio last week while we were recording....check it out http://myspacetv. com/index. cfm?fuseaction=vids. individual&videoid=34589518
There are a series of shows in England and Scotland....dates are on my myspace.
We won't be doing my material, but it is a really special show, and Tommy is a true rock'n'roll legend.
Anyway, take care and hope to see you there.
