Dusty Awe is a serious singer/songwriter project, led by the songwriter and guitarist Michael Sulle from Denmark.
All songs and lyrics are written by Michael.
The recordings for the demo EP released febuary 2nd 2008 were recorded and produced by Michael Sulbæk Larsen and Christopher Aaby.
Christopher’s contribution to the band is carefully composed keyboard-melodies added and adjusted to the individual songs.
Music discription:
Dusty Awe’s music is NOT a perfectly balanced bowl of emotion.
The fragile and a bit callow, shaky voice, is in strong contrast to the up-beat ding-a-derry happy and catchy melody. But the whole sound is then re-enforced by the one most important component in Dusty Awe – Namely the lyrics. The lyrics are incredibly well written and clever, and are all written in the English language.
The songs are all very different, but are in general very similar in the way they each get to the point in the particular song. For example by making the singer take the role of a character that’s usually complaining and pitying himself to such a degree as to where it sounds ridiculous, yet in a story so trivial and in a way so honest, that the audience can’t help but relate. The idea is that by making the lyrics ridiculously sad, and the melody ridiculously happy, that the massive amount sadness in the lyrics and the way they’re sung, can’t really be taken that seriously, and in that way try to remove some of the sadness and the self-pity from those who’ve experienced something similar.
All while everything is performed with a very honest, sweet and humble attitude – making the Dusty Awe live experience very refreshing and uplifting.
The music genre is Acoustic Emotional and lyrical Folk Punk that may be containing a few indie elements.
Michael is self taught and learned to play and sing by writing his own songs, which all sound very unique due to his self-acquired guitar and singing techniques.
The energy, intensity and sensitivity of Dusty Awe, proves once more that bands that “learned by doing” will always carry just a little more HEART.
Also - there are two new Dusty Awe recordings out. A re-recording of "Don't wanna get blamed for it" feat. Christopher Aaby. And a recording of the newer song "No advice".

I fredags åbnede det nye Skråen på Nordkraft, hvor jeg vandt SONGWRITER BATTLE 2009 - kåret som "Årets Nordjyske Singer/Songwriter". Videoerne fra aftenen er nu uploadet.
