Dusty Keeler' s “tunes, crafted with out force are true to tradition” - Lindsay Dobbin Dalhousie Gazette March 25/04.
His songs "are like a favorite old blanket you wrap around yourself at a campfire. His personal brand of folk is a welcome listen anytime." Lezlie Lowe, aliant.net Atlantic Airwaves Article 2002"
Dusty Keeler is a singer/songwriter based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. For many years he has played around Halifax and the Maritimes and toured across Canada in 2002 and 2006. He also played shows in Ireland and Wales in 2007.
Dusty has released five full length CDs since 1999, two on the independent label No Records, and three on his own. Between 1999 and 2004 he performed under the name Dusty Sorbet. Wanderers Grounds, released in 2004, was nominated for Best Folk/Roots Recording by The Music Industry Association of Nova Scotia. His latest, Under The Radar and Over The Canyon is available online iTunes, CD Baby and Zunior.com.
Keeler’s songs have been influenced by Canadian and American folk and folk rock, very much wearing the influences on his sleeve. For the past year he has been immersing himself in more traditional forms of folk music, listening to and learning Irish songs and tunes.
In his early twenties, Dusty dropped out of university and theatre school to play guitar on the streets. Busking his way to British Columbia and back a few times, he has fallen asleep in The Badlands of South Dakota, woke up to buffalo grazing by his campsite and bought fireworks from an aging scholar of minor hockey on the shores of Lake Superior.
In the fall of 2007, Dusty performed in Wales and Ireland.................~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
