"You don't have to say you love her, but after seeing Kirsten Holly Smith channel Dusty Springfield, you won't be able to help yourself! Relive some of the greatest tunes of the 20th century with Smith's bluesy and heartfelt ode to a legend."
Dusty Springfield's talent and courage blazed a trail for generations of women in music. Her life, however, was tumultuous and misunderstood. In her one-woman musical play, STAY FOREVER : THE LIFE AND MUSIC OF DUSTY SPRINGFIELD, Kirsten Holly Smith celebrates Dusty’s journey through monologue and song, showing how this legendary star influenced her era and remains relevant today, nearly a decade after her passing.
The show features Kirsten’s performances of 13 classic Dusty songs, including the hits “Son of a Preacher Man,” “Just A Little Lovin',” “I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself,” “Wishin and Hopin’” and “I Only Want To Be With You,” as well as less familiar, but equally brilliant numbers such as “I Found My Way” and “Willie and Laura Mae Jones.”
Kirsten was awarded the Spectrum Grant at The University of Southern California to develop this program.

“In her fabulous one woman show "Stay Forever," Kirsten Holly Smith summons forth the soul and spirit of the late great Dusty Springfield. This is not just a great performance, it's a reincarnation -- a séance with the spirit of Dusty Springfield filling the night through Kirsten Holly Smith's vocal virtuoso. Each song that springs from the soul of Kirsten Holly Smith, reminds us of the time when Dusty Springfield's rich voice filled the airwaves. "Stay Forever" is the tale of a singer and the story of a generation.”

"I've never been a fan of one person shows- which is why Kirsten Holly Smith's portrayal of Dusty Springfield was such a wonderful surprise. The acting, the writing, the inspired use of the space all made me forget where I was, bringing me instead into the heart and mind of one of the most compelling figures in 60's and 70's pop music. Kirsten can sing: I would have been happy just to listen to her renditions of Dusty's material alone. The entire evening was a success on every level. Dusty is smart, moving, funny and tremendously entertaining, and Kirsten Holly Smith is an absolute revelation."

I enjoyed the show very much in LA and was hoping to catch it again on the road, but I noticed a slight change in the webpage... does that mean anything for travelplans?
I had a dream about you last night. You were at the top of a spiral staircase made of limestone. You were being interviewed by Harper's Bazaar. The Vogue girl was going down the stairs and couldn't get by me until I picked her up and moved her to the other step. I yelled BYE VOGUE GIRL, and GOOD RIDDENCE! Then when you were finished with your interview we had lunch: beet salad with walnuts, gorganzola and granny smith apples mixed up in it. It was lovely!!! Hope you're well!
It was an honor and a privilege to have caught the MAR 2 performance. The show was wonderful and amazing. A simply divine tribute to Dusty's memory and a real dedication to her life. Thanks for the stellar show and performance.
You were amazing last night. Dusty's spirit was definitely with you - just magic.
