Influences
Dutch Courage are influenced by various bands past and present - each for their own unique qualities that the lads feel will benefit their music-making. The main ones are those of the same style as...
Arctic Monkeys
The Wombats
The Beatles
Joy Division
The Pigeon Detectives
Kings of Leon
The Kooks
The Ramones
These are just a few but the guys would have bigger lists themselves of the artists whose influences can be heard in their performance........
Sounds Like
"The final band of the evening was Leicester based four-piece Dutch Courage. Their sound is a dirty mix of Post-Indie and Rock powered by dark driving riffs, heavy percussion and effective layered chant-over-harmony vocals. They’ve got some great anthemic sing along tracks that saw their entire army of fans jumping, dancing, and singing along. Live they play with enthusiasm and precision and received a deservedly strong response from The Asylum crowd."
Ashley Neal - Surface Unsigned Regional Semi-Final 02/08/09
"The second band of the night was Market Bosworth based four-piece Dutch Courage. They’ve got a sharply contemporary Alternative Indie-Rock direction, brooding with emotion and charged with energy, it’s a sound that really works for the band. Standing out on the sheer quality of their material, superbly written and arranged for maximum impact, their songs have an anthemic quality that distinguishes the band as something rare and exciting." Stephen Hudyba - Surface Unsigned Festival 02/04/09
"Well balanced vocals, a nice retro yet contempory feel, much likened to Franz Ferdinand, Kaiser Chiefs etc. and a mature interaction with the crowd, displaying previous gigging experience."
Samantha Jones - Bham Music For Youth Regional Festival 29/03/09
'You've got a really good sound' - Anna Bulbrook - The Airborne Toxic Event
'GREAT' - Sympathy State
'Were gonna have a listen after we've been to Maccy D's' - Talula

Dutch Courage.
A bunch of mates cum 4-piece alternative rock band from Leicestershire, formed in early 2008 with intentions of not becoming another generic band.
Their upbeat toe tapping sound succeeds in turning heads and livening up awkward gigs and the buzz they get from making and playing their own tunes is surpassed only by their undying love for attractive women!
Their songs tend to lean towards the types of lyrical numbers that influenced them, and also like to think that there is a bit of Dutch courage in everyone!
There are no half measures with these guys!!!
Dutch Courage havea supported the likes of The Airborne Toxic Event, Autohype and Talula
We recorded our songs at Born in a Barn studio near Coventry http://www.borninabarnstudio.co.uk/

I would like to share with you something I was moved to write::
I hope you are doing great my friends... and i hope you are copeing with MJ's flight into the heavens.... We are all sadden and hurt.. but we must keep the faith.. as Michael Says, and keep going and show how he has touched our lives. I'am proud to be a Michael Jackson Fan...from the beginning to the end.. i have never lost faith in Mike and i never will... Please allow me to walk beside Michael and be like a shadow to him... I'am happy that individuals feel that i sound like him,, and remind them of his sweet voice... But there is only one Michael Jackson, and their will never be another... He's a icon of epic porportions... I'am glad to of been the generation that got to see him up close and witness his magic... I'am always thinking of you Michael day and night.. and i only hope you are looking down on us, and never leave us alone....for we are not alone... You have givin us the opportunity to see the limits of Gods power when he bless someone with a Gift... You are surely a work of Art, a Masterpiece that is glorious to behold. Your entire body would execute moves that would boggle the mind... and dazzle one's eyes. How can we not watch you when you are in your Zone.

THE MANDIGANS - LIVE @ MANCHESTER ARNDALE........ JULY 1ST - 7PM
Its our only Manchester gig of the Summer as we're taking a break to write some new songs - so come on down for your last chance to hear the old Mandigans songs
WHATS THE DATE AND WHAT TIME? Wed July 1st @ 7pm
WHERE? Halle Square - its where JD Sports and Henri Lloyd store are
(Note: There's a very very small chance the gig may get moved to Exchange Square, near Next, so if you dont see a PA system and band around 6.30pm at Halle Square you know where to move to)
ISNT A GIG IN A SHOPPING CENTRE A BIT WEIRD? Yeah, in the UK maybe, but they happen all the time in America.... so come down, make noise, invite your mates and make sure everybody knows the Mandigans are in the building
IM NOT IN MANCHESTER SO CANT MAKE IT? We have gigs throughout the Summer in Wigan, Blackburn, Leeds, London, Birmingham and maybe a few more TBC so keep checking http://www.myspace.com/themandigans
Hey just wondering if you had any future gigs where you need a support
act? Got a great band that we've got running through us that are
looking for some dates. Thank you x
