Music
I enjoy all music if it is well done. I love classic rock from the sixties, oldies from the fifties, swing from the forties and classical from before that. I like jazz. Peter White, Tom Grant (seen him live three times), Diana Krall (a favorite of mine). I believe the late Eva Cassidy had the best all around singing voice I have ever heard. I saw Janis Joplin twice, Gorgetown University in '69 and in Baltimore in '70. I saw the Who do the entire Tommy rock opera at Merriweather Post Pavillion outside of D.C. in 1970. That was the second to last time they performed it in the U.S. I believe. It was great. I believe Lenon/McCartney, Bob Dylan and Paul Simon are the best lyricists I have heard. I rank the top four all around gutarists (can play any style) from bottom to top as: Roy Clark, Glenn Cambell (did most of the Beach Boys studio work as well as many others), Eric Clapton, and Phil Keaggy (He is a Christian artist. When Jimi Hendrix was asked by Rolling Stone magazine How does it feel to be the world's greatest gutarist his response was, Don't ask me ask Phil Keaggy. Phil was about 15 or 16 at the time). Jimi was probably the best ELECTRICAL gutarists but what was best about him was his performance. Alvin Lee of Ten Years After was probably the fastest gutarist. My favorite song is Eva Cassidy singing Over The Rainbow. Farorite album: Abbey Road. I like the Eagles, Dooby Brothers, any group with Eric clapton, Hot Tuna (and the Jefferson airplane), and most 60's and early 70's FM rock music. NO ONE WILL EVER TOP THE BEATLES THOUGH. EVERY RECORD THEY EVER PRODUCED, SINGLE OR ALBUM, SOLD OVER A MILLION COPIES. ALL OTHERS WISH THEY COULD HAVE THEIR SUCCESS.
Movies
I have always enjoyed a good movie. I don't believe there is any such thing as a CHICK-FLICK. I have even been know to cry on occasion. The best actoress I have seen is Meryl Streep. I have seen her in bad movies (Plenty, for instance) but she is never bad. Best actor is tougher. I like Billy Bob Thorton. He was great in Swing Blade. Tom Hanks is great. Bogie was fantastic but, with the exception of The african Queen, he always played himself. I like action movies like The Bourne Identity and the Bourne Supremacy (the later was better). The Italion Job. Did you ever see Leon, The Professional? That was dark but good. I like good time travel movies as long as they make sense. Frequency was good. I just saw Twelve Monkees for the first time and Brad Pitt was a great insane guy. Like music, if it is done well I love it.
Television
I love to too much watch TV. My favorites are: NCIS, 24, Survivor, The Amazing Race, This Old House, American Idol, That Seventies Show, Globe Trekker, Emeril and a few others.
Books
I am constantly reading something. Right now I reading War and Rememberance for the second time.
Heroes
My Lord and Savior, Jesus; Winston Churchill (arguably the person most responsible for winning both World Wars); My son, Nick, who is a forward observer in the Army and is in Iraq. (I AM PROUD OF YOU SON), All those who have served their country so we can have the freedom to have web sites like this
