| | Music | I have been listening to mostly classical music over the past few years. I was given a copy of The Rachel's, Music for Egon Schiele about eight years ago and it remains one of my most played selections. I like the small arrangement and they barrow nicely from Symbolist composers ( I think) like Debussy and Chausson whom I also admire very much. Ill stop there with classical interests.
I was blown away by a Reza Derakshani show some friend and I attended, that said turkish, Armenian and middle eastern music often on my turntable. Including relatives of that music particularly Klezmer an Klezmer fusion.Im all about Gogol Bordello at the moment.
I also enjoy black metal, Jazz mostly bebop and power bop, Delta blues, Folk, Gospel, Punk Rock (when its good), soul, British Soul, Country (willy), Gangsta rap as long as you spell it O. D. B., and dumber shit as well.
Maybe ill add more to this later. | | Movies | When there good there good. Anything between PT Anderson, Pedro Almodovar and Stanley Kubrick Or perhaps a good Weimer Mountain cult film just for kicks. | | Television | Ricky Gervais. | | Books | James Elkins and Umberto Eco are at the top of my list right now. I also have been hitting the poetry, Anything from Rumi to Baudelaire...maybe not so much Buadelaire i have a been a bit disillusioned with modernism lately. So i have been combating it with a little "up the kitsch" reading. Odd Nerdrum wrote a nice one if your interested. | | Heroes | we dont need another one.
