VISION STATEMENT: It is the goal of the DuVal Vocal Music Department to provide the very best in music instruction, performance and experience. We endeavor through music to prepare our children to compete and succeed at every turn in life.
About the Director: Damon T. Gray is a native of Omaha, Nebraska. At the age of 2 Damon displayed a God-given talent in music when he started playing drums. At age 9 Damon began studying piano and soon developed a reputation as an anointed and skilled musician. Damon has accompanied several world-reknowned Gospel artists including James Cleveland, Daryl Coley, Kirk Franklin and Albertina Walker. He has also produced, written, arranged and recorded with various music artists across the country. In 1998 Damon relocated to the Washington DC metropolitan area and in 2001 Damon married his lovely wife Valerie. In 2004 Damon acquired his B.A. in performance from Bowie State University. Damon currently works at DuVal High as the Music Department Chairperson, First Baptist Church Highland Park as director of The Inspirational Voices.
About the Choir: The DuVal Vocal Music Department consists of students from various ethnic, racial, religious and economic backgrounds. The 2006-2007 choir has approximately 120 choir members divided into 4 choirs: Concert Choir, Mixed Chorus, Gospel Choir and Honors Chorus. "The Choir" studies a variety of musical genres including: Classical, Spirituals, Pop and Gospel. The 2007-2008 program of music includes: Porgy & Bess by Gershwin, When I survey The Wondrous Cross arr. by Martin, Hallelujah Chorus by Handel, The Lord's Prayer by Key and Lift Up Your Heads by Ashford.The choir works towards performing at various competitions, festivals and music events throughout the year and under the direction of Mr. Gray has produced a CD entitled "USE ME" which is in stores now and available on WWW.CDBABY.COM

Never in my life have I loved something as much as this choir! We are simply the best! No one can compare to the level of love I get from my choir members as well as Mr. Gray. Everyday I pray for the growth and maturity in us. That we reach the full blessing in this music department. I believe that only the best is to come for us (even when we don't see it)!
As an Alumnist (Class of 2002) i am so proud to have my church the New Life Worship Center as one of the new sponsors of the DuVal Gospel Chior. We can wait to start having you guys sing for us and work with our church. I thank you in advance and God Bless.

THE BEST CHOIR ALIVE!!!!! I never left a comment on here.... I love you guys.... And Im sooo greatful that god gave me the chance to work with the musicians, the TOTALLY AWESOME CHOIR!!! And the greatest music teacher EVER....... All I can say is god blessed me!!!!
