“Trial by Self” is a psychological suspense thriller of a different sort. Whether you are looking for action, violence and suspense or you want to be moved watching smaller personal struggles, this movie will have it and nothing will ever feel out of place. It is currently in post production and the editing process will begin in 3 months. After many months of editing we intend on touring the festival/market circuit. After this, we are aiming for it to be picked up for limited theatrical release. Be one of the first people to be “in the know” about what will one day be a cinematic cult sensation! Message us to learn more!

I recently finished directing a film I'd spent 8 years trying to get made. I was also the writer. The material was original. The film was taken away from me during post production and completely re-cut from scratch by producers. They released their cut to dvd in September 2006. The film was originally written, developed and shot as a thought-provoking, socially relevant horror movie dealing with the subject of kids and violence. The new focus of the producers in post production, however, was to change it into what they called a "killer-kid film".

After being removed from the film, I decided to complete it at home using the materials available to me: dvd dailies and a Mac. The film was originally shot in Super 35mm by Bill Butler (JAWS, THE CONVERSATION, ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOOS NEST), but even Mr. Butler was not invited by producers to participate in the film's post-production process.

I have since started a website and petition to get my cut of the film released. The site is full of information about the film and what happened: docs, articles, interviews with cast and crew who all want to see this version out there...

Please check it out if you'd like to know more or would like to help by signing the petition. The site is: http://www.spreadingtheplague.com

Thanks in advance,

Hal Masonberg
