The only good and positive thing that I have seen on TV is . . . . is . . . . well, you get the picture. I read an article in a science journal where they took two families of four, sat both in a room on a couch hooked up to brain monitors. Family 1 watched several different kinds of TV shows and family 2 just sat in the dark......the brain
waves were identical. Go figure!
Books
The Bible!!! There is so much stuff in there that you can read it day after day for 30 years and still keep learning something new because it has to be lived. When we practice what it teaches, and go through deep experiences, those experiences (like a video game) unlock passages to us that we may have read ten times before, but now because of that experience we can see what we could not see before. Its an awesome thing, the living Word of the Living God! Read it, practice it...and it will literally change your life!
Heroes
Besides Jesus, those who have learned and chosen to completely give up their lives in the pursuit of following Jesus. It takes a lot of pain sometimes in order to get to that point, and I really look up to such individuals...even though there are not too many.
The hero I really want to see, is the hero that I can be to someone in the world.
Let's see, I have two main interests in my life...God and martial arts. That may seem like a contradiction, but it isn't. Being a true Christian isn't easy and it's not for wimps, you have to fight your way through what everyone else seems to be giving in too and doing. I've been involved with the Martial Arts since high school, and between then and now I've learned various techniques from various styles ranging from Jui-Jitsu and Aikido to Southern style Eagle and Tiger Claw Kung Fu. My favorite is the "soft" styles of Kung Fu because of nerve and pressure point attacks...it doesn't matter how large or strong one's opponent is when dealing with nerves...you hit the nerve ending and they go down - fascinating!!!
I love to work out, and if and when I can find someone to work out with, we usually do one-step drills and blocking / cleansing drills. In a "fight or flight response" situation, your brain can only pick out the best thing it knows to protect you. If the best thing it has learned is to run, then you will run and probably get the *bleep* kicked out of you. But if you fill your brain with over 170 different self-defense techniques and drill them into your memory banks until they are instant reaction reflexes...you will always be OK.
Who I'd like to meet: Besides God and Jesus, and one day I will, I would like to meet some of the world's greatest martial masters. Now, lest someone I know gets hung up on that word (master), I only acknowledge one Master over people, and that is the Living God. Master in the sense of the martial world means that an individual has mastered a certain martial discipline, not that they are any better or have some kind of authority over others as a focus.
Anyway, I would absolutely love to meet some of the masters of certain disciplines like certain Kung Fu styles, Ninjitsu, Pa Kua, and Snake Style Gung Fu and Chin Na...just all get together and have a huge month long seminar going on, get to learn some really cool techniques and then all hang out together for a day long party afterward.
