Domestic Violence Project's Blurbs |
About me:
The Domestic Violence Project at the Urban Justice Center (DVP) is dedicated to providing survivors of domestic violence and their children with the support and advocacy necessary to achieve freedom from the abuse and violence in their lives.
DVP provides legal and social work assistance to victims of domestic violence regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, gender or sexual identity throughout NYC. DVP believes in holistic and collaborative services to help the victim transition to an empowered and self-defined life. DVP's social workers, attorneys and advocates work with the client in a team setting to find the best solutions. Our lawyers provide free legal services in Kings County (Brooklyn) Family Court for issues ranging from Orders Of Protection, Custody, Child Support to Visitation. Our social workers provide or refer to programs that provide crisis counseling, advocacy with intersecting agencies and support groups tailored for empowerment and stress reduction.
We have decided to post this page to share the knowledge and information that we have to assist victims of Domestic Violence in obtaining the tools necessary to become safe. At no time should this page be used as an alternative for maintaining or obtaining your personal safety. If you are in imminent or immediate danger you must call 911.
