Not a week will go by that you won't see Dwayne Elix & The Engineers in Sydney’s Daily Telegraph Gig-guide. And no wonder when their popularity has gained them major clubs throughout Sydney booking them repeatedly. They are also regarded as one of the best dressed acts.
The Engineers don't just appeal to the die hard country music fans, they also have a huge following with the rock n roll dance clubs. Their style of music mixes with the true sound of the 50's Rock 'n' Roll era, and with their unique sound that expresses Everly Brothers harmonies and twangy Duane Eddy guitar, making them a true showband looked up to by their peers . Dwayne is also an independent recording artist and has had a lot of success with his own penned songs “ I Can Cry If I Want To “ and “ She Took The Engineer “. Both songs went number one on the Independent Country Charts, as well as making it into the Top Ten of the National Country Charts.
In the rock n roll dance scene, it is said that The Engineers are the only band you can dance to every song they play throughout the night. As Dwayne can dance, he tries out every song before the band performs it live. Many times changing songs to make it dance friendly. For example, Dwayne took the Hank Williams classic “Tear In My Beer” and converted it to a swing beat. It’s now one of The Engineers most requested songs.
Dwayne Elix & The Engineers have worked with many other great artists -Troy Cassar-Daley, Phil Emmanuel, Adam Harvey, Melinda Schneider, Michael Carr, Chad Morgan, televisions Troy Dann and Ernie Dingo, Felicity, Scott Dann, Darcy LeYear, America’s Lee Roy Pernell, and many other Stars. Dwayne Elix & The Engineers are Dwayne Elix lead singer and guitarist, Dave Cook on harmonies and Bass guitar, Steve Sullivan on harmonies and Drums, Mike Tyne on Pedal Steel.
Dwayne Elix is regarded as an equal by such country music stars as Troy Cassar-Daley, and Adam Harvey, both have been quoted saying "Dwayne Elix & The Engineers are the hardest working Act in the music industry."
It was quite a surprise when American country blues performer Lee Roy Parnell on his last Australian Tour, stepped up out of the audience of The Engineers performance, to perform with the band. The same thing occurred with Phil Emmanuel at the Tamworth Festival when he stepped up out of the audience. It just goes to show, the audience can’t stop their feet from tapping and muso’s can’t help to want to play with Dwayne Elix & The Engineers.
