   About Dwight Sirls
Who am I? What am I? Why do I exist? These questions have been a part of my thoughts for as long as I can remember. I have always made up songs in my head, but once I began to play instruments, I only wanted to do what I felt. It was hard work making me learn other songs. Now, releasing my second solo CD, Purpose, I am learning more about the who, what, and why I am the way I am. Each song on Purpose is straight from my feel zone. If I began to produce a song disconnected from that direct tap, I would stop. Sometimes the song would just be trashed if it strayed too far from what was deep in my inner-self. This direct feel I believe is the past visions and thoughts of my ancestors deeply stored in my genome. Each project is teaching me more and more about myself. I really hope those that listen can sometimes take that moment and go to their inner-most zone and bring to the surface some of those archived thoughts and visions. The instruments I use to transform what I feel to music are; six, five, and four string bass, four-string fretless bass, electric guitar, classical guitar, synths and keyboards, and the manipulation of percussion and drum samples. I love engineering and mixing, so I put this tool in the pool also. The ancestral voices once told me that man on this planet exists on external thought, or shall we say the thoughts and views that have been collectively approved as real or sane. I would like to journey further down the path to my true inner-self, to confirm for sure that Birth is not just the beginning and Death is not just The End. Purpose embraces the unique beliefs and directives of my existence. I believe that by doing my music in this way, I'm beginning to serve my purpose. East Texas native and rising Nu-Jazz artist Dwight Sirls believes the key to his creativity is the experiences of his ancestors that's deeply embedded in his genes. His current CD "Purpose" is a direct tap into this creative pool. Dwight feels that making this connection may help him understand not just his existence, but that of all mankind. "Purpose" is eleven tracks weaving together the pieces that makeup Dwight's existence. His ancestral guidance harnesses his contemporary style of music to convey visions and passions that are a part of his being, and possiby to help others discover the denizens of their soul and conscious. His compelling and passionate lead bass performances illustrates the emotions of his ancestral experiences. "With each project, I'm learning more and more about myself," states Dwight. Dwight also states that this is just a belief, resulting from experiences. "My utmost belief is that beliefs are fragile, new information and modified thoughts can alter or totally erase beliefs", said Dwight. All the tracks on "Purpose" were composed, engineered, performed, and mixed by Dwight at his private project studio in Tyler, Texas. Dwight's first solo CD "The Human Complexity" brought him into the smoothjazz community, especially with the airplay he received on www.smoothjazz.com & www.smoothlounge.com. Tracks from the first CD can still be heard there and on other internet radio communities. He has made fans in Asia, Europe, Canada, and several U.S. states. Both CDs were released on Dwight's label, Japoonoonie Records.

Hello,
Thank you!
For beauty being the best of all we know. Imagination stakes out heavenly claims,Nor is there fairer work for beauty found
From all the woes that in the world abound; If from man's greater need beauty redound. May your week be imaginative where Beauty abounds! XX~

For beauty being the best of all we know

For beauty being the best of all we know
Sums up the unsearchable and secret aims
Of nature, and on joys whose earthly names
Were never told can form and sense bestow;
And man has sped his instinct to outgo
The step of science; and against her shames
Imagination stakes out heavenly claims,
Building a tower above the head of woe.
Nor is there fairer work for beauty found
Than that she win in nature her release
From all the woes that in the world abound;
Nay with his sorrow may his love increase,
If from man's greater need beauty redound,
And claim his tears for homage of his peace.

There is a Rawness about you.

The wonder to life.

Pursue it, don’t sell out to get it.

Don’t listen to the whines of those
Who have settled for nothing.

Your goal is not to live long, its to live.

The option to yourself should be clear.

The fire in your heart should be warm.

Your impulse should be safety.

Teach the class, change careers
Run for office, make the difference.

Sure its not all safe, but what is ?
Those who try to keep their lives will lose.

But those who gave up their lives…
Have save many to give you
a better day.
