| 簡介 |
Dwight Slade has been disappointing people for years. Wife, government, children,
religious leaders have all given up on relationships with him all complaining about
his attitude, opinions and the mess in the bathroom.
He has arrived in the middle
of his life much as he started in life: full of na..ve idealism, confusion, crying
and periodically without pants.
He sees things in black and white, but, unfortunately,
has a "cultural glaucoma" which skews his vision into uncomfortable grey areas.
Dwight feels strongly in justice; swift, meaningful and preferably delivered with
a pool cue.
In 1998 an out of work plumber name Shawn Nelson, distraught over losing
his job and girlfriend, snuck into a National Guard Armory in suburban San Diego,
California, stole a tank and went on a 30 minute joyride flattening cars, mailboxes
and people’s landscaped lawns.
The point? Dwight needs to pick better heroes. He
is fascinated by, and slightly envious of, those that can let go of the tenuous
threads that connects us to reasonable propriety and instead take matters into their
own hands.
Dwight is antiwar; but pro violence.
He has the face of a man much younger
than his years and the heart of a man preparing for an emotional triple bypass.
He believes that minor annoyances are symptomatic of a much larger cultural cancer
and thus cannot be dismissed. Subsequently, he has a hard time letting things go.
He is the sole member of the Mundane Hezbollah; the Taliban of the Trite; "Terrorism"
he says, "Is merely misdirected in scale. Make people pay for minor indiscretions
and things won't spiral out of control." All of this because of a rude person in
line at Starbucks.
These lofty ideals are communicated in his stand up comedy through
quite a lot of yelling and jumping about along with clever jokes about his penis.
His
show is unforgettable after you remember it for awhile.
Caustic, glib, self absorbed
but with an irrepressible grin, Dwight Slade is the dog that should have been taken
outback and shot for rabies and not only lived, but flourished
