D-XP of D-XP Productions Born Joshua William Fredrick Douglas on April 27 1985, in Mississauga Ontario Canada. In his younger years Joshua was a very outgoing child whose main focus was athletics. Joshua was an all round athlete who participated in numerous sports especially Hockey. As a child Joshua loved music and loved to perform. Joshua began singing and dancing for his classmates, friends, and family as young as 3 years old. Joshua’s love for hip hop music began when he heard such artists as The Beastie Boys, Notorious BIG, Wu-Tang and 2 Pac. Joshua began break dancing and rapping at age 12.
It was also around this time that Joshua’s Father was diagnosed with cancer. His father’s illness effected Joshua’s entire family, and home life was tough for the Douglas’.
Joshua attended Lorne Park High School where he was a member of the break dance crew “capsize.” He also began to develop his lyrical skills as a rap artist, participating in countless freestyle battles.
At age 18 Joshua earned himself a hockey scholarship to Southern New Hampshire University in New Hampshire USA. While there Joshua preformed several shows at his University under the name Xpress and began receiving recognition for his strong lyrical abilities from friends, and classmates. In the summer of 2004 Joshua changed his name from Xpress and became the artist D-XP. D-XP continued to play hockey and perform his music at SNHU.
In the summer of 2007 D-XP was featured on Waiting Room Entertainment’s Mix Tape called ‘’Sauga City’s Finest.” D-XP then decided to leave the states and headed home to be with his family. With his past behind him in the fall of 2007 D-XP was accepted to the International Academy of Design and Technology Toronto Film School and began his career not only as a artist but also as a film producer. D-XP Produced a number of different Independent music videos and in the winter of 2007 and later founded his own company “D-XP Productions.”
D-XP of D-XP Productions to this day has worked with a number of producers and artists including Devilz Speicez, Facts, Striaght Goodz, Big Bluntz, Don Kartel, and True Soul. He is currently recording his first album (God Forgive Me) with audio engineer Michael Khaikin. He has also produced and stared in his own music video for his first single “Blaze The 5th.” D-XP has teamed up with editor/producer Craig McKay in post production to create a fast paced video with striking visuals. The music video aired on Much Vibe April, 3, 2009, and is currently a huge success. In October of 2009 D-XP shot a new music video for his new single "Get That Cash." The shoot went incredibly well and the footage is currently being edited for submission to Much Music.
In May of 2009 Joshua's father Bill Douglas passed away after a 12 year battle with cancer. After this tragic event D-XP along with Triben Entertainment formed Film and Cancer, and on June 26 2009 D-XP held a benefit concert and Performed to a sold out crowd at Toronto Night Club Lot 332. In November of 2009 Joshua's Grandfather also lost his battle to Cancer. On Thursday Night Dec. 3rd 2009 D-XP will be performing live at Mississauga's Night Club Body English in honor of his Grandfather.
With over 27,000 music plays on ‘Myspace’ alone D-XP’s fan base and respect in the hip hop community of Mississauga and Toronto continues to grow. D-XP is without a doubt a young talent on the rise.
Not only as an artist but as a well respected hard working supporter of the film industry. D-XP has worked on set with companies like “235 Films” for the filming of the latest Music Videos for artists such as “The Cancer Bats”, “Justin Nozuka”, "The Wilsons" and Hip Hop artists “General" , "Gee WUnder, and most recently Sean Paul.”
D-XP has produced a number of films and was awarded Best Picture and Best Producer at the TFS Film Festival. D-XP has done promotional videos for Harvard Broadcasting which was displayed to the CRTC.
D-XP began his work in Television on the Discovery Channel with GSR Productions and then hit CTV drama "Flashpoint" where he made his acting debut. D-XP also appeared in the Feature Film "Chloe"
To date D-XP has now worked in the location departments:
