About Dynahead
The band was created by the meeting of long term friends Caio Duarte and Diego Teixeira with the guitarist Victor H. Schmidlin, and had its first lineup completed by the drummer Rodrigo Costa. Basing its sound in a furious diversity, they began to play cover songs together, a 'just for fun' approach that eventually led to songwriting. The growing scope and complexity of the sound demanded another guitarist, who came to be the city newcomer Diogo Mafra.
In mid 2005 Rodrigo Costa left Dynahead, giving way to Marlon Marquis, who held the responsability of making his first show for 10.000 people after only two weeks with the band. After a few months Marquis returned to his hometown, being readily replaced by the eclectic drummer Rafael Dantas.
The debut Antigen (2009) enraptured fans of heavy music all over the world with their fresh approach, and the concept album Youniverse (2011) satiated listeners thirsty for new experiences with a deeper and even more progressive flair. Fluently mixing elements ranging from Extreme Metal to Jazz, DYNAHEAD breaks conventions by putting together exquisite technique, taste and aggression without falling into mere exaggeration or cliché.
Known for producing all of its own material, the band stays proudly away from commercial pressures or passing trends. By valuing aesthetical richness and musical dynamics, the band collected an outstanding reputation with critics, rare even among signed bands.
Chordata is a two part concept album, a metaphorical tale based on the biological evolution of life and society. A collection of songs from a band more mature, musical and bold than ever, Chordata showcases an unique band, ready to challenge your ears and take them to unexplored territories in alternative music.
