It's going to be a monster four band pile up on highway 666 as Vultures of Venus crash into the Birmingham on Thursday the 3rd of ..heir debut LP which is now available through I-Tunes has been receiving strong support and favorable reviews from local radio RRR, PBS and Syn Fm. It will also be available in hard copy on the night. This gig is gonna be fun, fun, fun on the Smith st autobahn. Armed with big rock riffs and blazing electrified keys this is the Vultures first show since their sellout LP Launch. This is a band with a plan; and that plan is to make you do the Can Can.
Joining them on the night is Mirrorhouse Antics whos live show is a cross between the Arctic Monkeys and The Stooges. They have just released their debut album, recorded at Bakehouse by Mikey from Eddie Current Suppression Ring. Dan Webb's 60's styled Hammond infused insanity is gonna be something to look out for as well as the 'Wise Flys' : they'll make you laugh they'll make you cry, they'll make you laugh about crying.
And don't forget to look out for the crazy clown pinyada filled with burning flesh and give away fun toys for the kids. This is a B.Y.O "leotard friendly event ". So pour yourself into your favorite and come on down !!!

FREE ENTRY 9pm

Roll up roll up, Vultures of Venus are back in town you funky disco cats. And guess what? ... their self-titled debut LP is finally here! Ten tracks of unadulterated Glampunk Electro madness! It’s unleashed on Thursday 29th of October at Bar Open on Brunswick St. It’s Bowie on steroids; it’s Marquis de Sade and Andy Warhol screaming at the moon through a home-made vocoder. The Lollyshop is open for business ! It’s going to be a huge night filled with bubble machines, strobes, psychedelic video projections and cautionary tales to tell your grandchildren. It will also feature live performances from those vixens of burlesque “the Venus Man Traps”. Support on the night comes from psych-popsters Go-Go Sapien serving up synth-infected garage with lashings of ravenous big sexy guitars. Make sure you get down early to catch the debut performance by newcomers Tusk. And most importantly we have kept the entry fee down to a very affordable – FREE ! Copies of Vultures of Venus’s LP can be scoped up for a low $10 on the night. Yee-Har space cadets !

Psychedelic Rock Band, Slocombe’s Pussy, will interpret the live projected tattoos of Tony "the Face" Cronin, former chauffeur & bodyguard of Chopper Read. This show is a collaboration between Musicians, a Video Artist and a Tattoo Collector. Slocombe’s Pussy are joined by saxophone firebrand, Adam Simmons and New Blood co-conspirator Ben Carr and, visual artist and VJ Paul Rodgers, in a chaotic journey of searing saxophones, improvised guitar solos, noise and sonic brutalism, layered over rugged riffs. Slocombe’s Pussy sonically tell the stories etched in Tony’s skin since he started collecting tattoos at 13 years of age.

Balkan Night at the Forum Theatre Friday 7 August

Big gypsy tunes will echo around the centre of Melbourne on Friday 7
August when The Woohoo Revue head up a massive line up of bands and
DJs at the Forum Theatre as part of the Melbourne International Film
Festival’s Balkan Beatbox Night.

In addition to The Woohoo Revue, the show will also feature such
amazing acts as Vardos, BabaGanoush, 13 piece brass band Opa! as well
as DJ Gabriele Urban Gypsy (PBS Trans Europa Express).

The combined talents of these performers will make this a rampaging
Balkan carnival of oom-pah, gypsy swing and huge brass band sounds.

Vultures of Venus prepare to tear up the stage this week with two incendiary performances. The first at Revolver on the 23 July on Chapel St. The Vultures are joined by the devastating sounds of Roxy Moron and MojoRising, both well respected noise makers from the Southside of town. The night promises to kick some true dance rockin punkadelic ass and blow da minds of all da yuppie princesses on Chappel St. If you've never seen a cool dance rock show with a twist of the 70's underground then get yr asses moving. Shake it ... Shake it from da hip
THEN on Saturday night Vultures of Venus continue their 70's Bowie stylings as they head to their natural enviroment, as the perform at WOW in Geddes Lane in the CBD.The Vultures of Venus prepare to electrify ’WOW’ once more with their glam rock electronica accompanied by the acts Desert Morning, Cordyseps and The Lazy Sons as well as ACID JACKS fresh from touring America.
Ya gotta be in it to win it! and as we all know there are a lot of beautiful prizes to be found for those willing to venture into the unknown.......mention "VULTURES OF VENUS" at the door for cheaper entry.
