Dzasta of Dzastrus Produxionz was born in Columbus, OH in 1981. Yes, the year Hip Hop was beginning to establish itself, but who knew what that meant. At a very young age, Dzasta was listening to all types of music from Gospel to Jazz, R & B to Classical, Rock, and of course Hip Hop. With such a passion and love for the arts, this young man decided to channel his energy and life experience into music. As the years progressed, Dzasta began gravitating towards more influential artists such as KRS-One, Public Enemy, Tupac, De La Soul, Tribe Called Quest, L.O.N.S. and so on; artists with a purpose..
Coming from a family of musicians and singers of the timeless Funk and Soul era, you can understand why music is his destiny. Listening to his music, you can hear the influences in his beats and lyrics courtesy of some of the greats in their time. Some of those greats include Parliament Funkadelic, Earth, Wind, and Fire, S.O.S. Band, and we cannot forget the King of Pop. These are all notably strong artists who have paved the way for the likes of artists such as Mary J. Blige, Busta Rhymes, DJ Quik, Ice Cube, Pharoahe Monche, Doc Dre, Outkast, and many other Hip Hop heads who have put a spark in the genre.
At the turn of the millenium, Dzasta fell in love with intertwining many musical styles to create the drive behind the machine. The year 2000 marked the start of his love for sculpting masterpieces you all know as “beats” thus setting the tone for his music, and combining cunning lyrics with a savvy, smooth, new wave of sound to the Hip Hop industry. In the year of 2001, Dzasta entered into the world of DJing, rocking events ranging from high school dances, to weddings, to corporate events, and local clubs in the Central Florida area. Never-the-less, having an A.S. Degree in Music Production and Technology along with a good ear, gives him the edge in music that most producers/artists don't have. In 2005, Dzasta joined forces with the likes of two local solo artists, C-Style and D-Light, along with up-and-coming DJ, M-Squared, to form the super group Locksmiff. During his tenure as a Locksmiff member, Dzasta opened up for artists such as AZ, Joell Ortiz, Termanology, and up-and-coming producer/artist Kev Brown to name a few. Locksmiff Ent. is also responsible for carrying on the longest running local Hip Hop night in Orlando at the AKA Lounge, where Dzasta is the host. There, local artists perform and display their individual musical talent. In 2006, Dzasta was hired on as an assistant promoter at WJHM 102 Jamz, Orlando’s premiere radio station for Hip Hop and R and B. Duties at 102 include street team promotions, club promotions, as well as interacting with the listeners/fans of the station.
Dzasta's goal is to leave the ultimate mark in the entertainment industry throughout the world. Whether it is through music production, writing, or even creating programs where the essence of Hip Hop is embellished, his determination for excellence will be known. The musical impact he would like to inflict upon the listeners is his own style of delivery and relevance to what is going on in the world. He desires to be remembered for being poetic, prophetic, and having that in-your-face realness without the "gangsta" or thug mentality. So keep your eyes and ears peeled for the storm because real soon it's going to get Dzasta-rous!!
