Dzewo came into being in February 2005. The band was formed by five young people who shared passion in rock music. Yet it soon turned out that the fledgeling musicians had conflicting visions of what they wanted to pursue. Artistic discrepancies led to a splitting from the band of lead guitarist - Rafał Glowczynski, followed shortly by drummer - Emilia Wisniowska who also parted ways with the group. To fill the void, the remaining band members proceeded with a search for instrumentalists who would prove an equally professional approach to music. Castings concluded succesfully when the crowd of vocalist - Agnieszka Kopczynska, bass - Przemyslaw Nita and rhytm guitarist - Radoslaw Balkowski was joined by new lead guitarist - Michal Szewczyk in 2005 and drummer - Jacek Ruszkowski a year later. The new blood acted as a trigger to take further action. Each original song was more complex and filled with greater expression. As they progressed, the guys showed that the band had reached a common ground and was ideologically homogeneous. What also began crystalizing at that time was Dzewo’s music attitude - while experimenting with various styles e.g. punk and blues, the band headed more and more aggresively towards robust rock smash, however not deprived of such values as musicality and lyricism.
Dzewo gained its first studio experience in 2006 when it recorded demo CD that comprised 4 original songs and a cover of Janis Joplin’s "Mercedes Benz". The band had already given some concerts when their song "Telos" hit Antyradio’s chart and in effect reached second place, which marked the first but not last success of the Warsaw-based group. Young musicians were hosted twice by Janusz “Kosa” Kosinski in his Antyradio broadcasts the very same year.
2007 was also a productive year for Dzewo. It started with a concert supporting the XV WOSP Foundation Final, the biggest charity event in Poland. Soon after that, the rockin’ guitars of Dzewo filled Proxima Club in Warsaw with its potent riffs. On 12 May Dzewo perfomed one of its then biggest concerts during Ursynalia, only to introduce themselves three days later to the listeners of Polish Radio Channel 3. In July band members commented on the Live Earth global event in TVP Kultura, where Agnieszka exhibited her vocal skills live. October brought another significant recognition for Dzewo which was picked out as one of the six finalists of the fourth edition of Poznan Student Rock Festival. The following month the band qualified to the final round of Mlode Wilki Rebelia 2007, the prestigious contest organized by the acclaimed Warsaw club Stodola.
New challenges have been awaiting Dzewo in 2008. On February 17 the band reshuffled a bit as Radoslaw Balkowski played his last concert with the group. Also in February a new single "Najwazniejsze" hits radio charts and announces the material already gathered for Dzewo's premiere long-play. On May the band played a great gig in Ursynalia in Warsaw. In the middle of the year a new keyboarder – Batlomiej Filipinski has joined the band. The entire material has been re-arranged and enriched with new sound. The band is planning next gigs with new energy.
