The band's union occurred in the end of September 2004 after more than two years on standby. All the members came from a previous interrupted project. Formed by four members (Nogueira - drums, Lamas - bass, Chico - guitar and Diogo - vocals), Encephalon's return is determined by the will to make music, (mainly physical music) aiming headbangers. Under the influence of many musical genres in the metal world, Encephalon found a variable and very own music style that dwells in the progressive death/grind scene. The name Encephalon came after two months of existence and it was chosen by its meaning "in the brain", which describes all the philosophy and pretensions of the band, which are making a neurologic grind adventure based on our brain, cortex, cerebrospinal fluids, cranial diseases, encephalopatys, cranium blood meals and other cute things that happen in our fucking head. In a growing stage, the band wants to spread its name and sound, leaving its future in the hands of the ones who listen to them! Welcome to Encephalon!Long life to the Neurologic Grind!
2006 - Neuropathology
2008 - After a short hiatus, the band skeleton is now a quartet, without former member Chico.
2009 – The four remaining members are in a strenuous work of musical production, in order to begin the recording sessions as soon as possible. The musical production promises surprises in fields, never explored before, but it never comes off of the powerful sound distinctive of the Neurologic Grind, unique of the Encephalon. The band is more commited and with more willpower to smash brains than ever.

Maybe in the future our Neurological Extreme Music will be more satirical. Jokes are the only escape we have now, we know. Because "of course" we are "WANNABE DOCTORS" and "of course" we kill our parents with our imagination, err...sorry with our chainsaws, "dread knives" and spades of ace [of course we respect Motorhead and Lemmy; this is a joke!].
We support MUSIC QUALITY and the shepherd of our little province called Trás-Os-Montes. If one day we have sheep and goats in the metal universe, we "will certainly applaude". What? They already exist? Fuck! "They fuck our music". Hmmm but of course we have an escape: of course we are SHITTY AND SICK doctors but we STERILIZE OUR INSTRUMENTS EVERYDAY! It's our "Salvation"... mentality. We like INNOVATION, because we don't have a bed of roses in front of us. Strangulation and dead penalty are like "dicks in the ocean" [Nektar said "A Tab In The Ocean"]. So support MUSIC and the cause of course. And mostly the SHEPHERD! They are in DANGER OF EXTINCTION! "I see one, I see one", " kill him", "rape him", "said that he is weak", "it's easy and secure"... or not.

We appreciate bands like Carcass, Vile, Dying Fetus, Cryptopsy, Aborted, Cephalic Carnage, Grog, Death, Bloodbath, Morbid Angel, Edge Of Sanity, Blood Red Throne, ThanatoSchizO, Decapitated, Nile, Satyricon, Ulver, Visceral Bleeding, Ultra Vomit and any others that mix "brutality" with imagination in a sense of musical quality.
