  • Bio

.... ---- Earl Brooks (born July 11, 1959) is a Americana/Rock songwriter-singer and guitarist. Born in Lusk, Wyoming to Dale Brooks, an electrical engineer and librarian Rae Ann. Brooks is known for crisp guitar style, his tongue in cheek lyrics and for being an early player of Americana Rock music in Seattle, Washington. Early Life Growing up in Idaho Falls, Idaho where Brooks learned to play the guitar that his mother bought with S & H Greenstamps. In High School, Brooks played trumpet in Idaho Falls High Marching and Pep Bands. After attending Boise State University for three semesters, Brooks dropped out to pursue music in 1982. Moving to the nearest big city, Brooks settled in the then Bohemian Belltown district of Seattle and soon fell into the psychedelic folk scene that was simmering in the Emerald City. Using his experiences of growing up in the hard drinking, rough and tumble country of rural Idaho and the county music that was the only thing on the radio there, Brooks became a pioneer of the Seattle Americana scene. Brooks’ first Seattle band was the The Wigglin’ Tators, with fellow Idahoan, Larry Barrett and the hugely talented Robert Sanville in 1985. They released two cassettes. Blood of the Lamb was his next project. A multi-singer/songwriter band that included Nick Vroman and Dave Legg. Blood of the Lamb was a popular band Seattle band among the non-Grunge crowd during the late 1980‘s. They released three cassettes. The most successful band that Brooks led was The Crop Circles. Between 1995 to 2001, the Crop Circles were regulars on the Seattle club circuit, playing at such infamous Americana establishments as Two Bells Tavern, Crocodile Cafe and The Tractor Tavern. Releasing three CD’s, “Born With A Bad Heart,” “The Crop Circles Sing the Songs of Stinky Doolittle” and “Home Sweet Home.” During this time, Brooks played guitar and was musical director for the Gary Heffern Band and appeared on two of his albums. He toured Europe with The Gary Heffern Band, which included the future Jessie Sykes and the Sweet Hearafter violinist, Anne Marie Ruljancich and Jim Roth of Built To Spill. Brooks has shared the stage with such notable musicians as Peter Buck, Chris Eckman of the Walkabouts, Terry Lee Hale, Carrie Akre, Atomic 61 and Dieselhead.
