neko case, hazel dickens and alice gerrard, almeda riddle, arizona drains, victoria williams, old hymnals and early american congregational singing, carter family, sister rosetta tharpe, the sounds of girl groups in matching outfits, somebody's grandmother singing in the kitchen, gillian welch, the be good tanyas, nina simone, maker's mark and wild turkey, and pretty much any woman who sings, and maybe even shakes it, like she means it.
the EARLY MORNING BOURBON GIRLS play folk music, with bits and pieces of gospel, pop, r&b and doo-wop. we sing our hearts out, shake our maracas and have a good ol' time. we are a snazzily-dressed 8 (more or less) member group, consisting of 7 ladylike hat and cowgirl boot wearin' females and one sorta all right dressed male. we play mostly original music, but mix in a few covers from the likes of hazel dickens, the carter family, traditional music, etc. we like it when people clap along.
