“After the great human misery, an even greater approaches ...
With the renewal of the cycles comes rain, blood, famine, sword and pestilence.
In the sky will be seen a fire, they will think to have seen the sun at night,
twenty years of the moon’s reign pass, and no other monarch shall hold.
When the sun takes up his days,
all is lost ...”
BODY
Earthen was born from The Narthex Projeckt, which later evolved to just,
the Narthex, which also had a sibling called The Fall Of Man. It was designed for my wife and I so we could jam together. Built around my time with Novembers Doom & Nachtmystium, with her being a beginner on the drums and wanting to jam, I wrote a few songs that we could work on together. After we got them down we wrote a few more and before we knew it we had five tunes. We decided to hit the studio and record em so we could have this as something we did together, being that music is what brought us together. We recorded three of the five and made an intro and an outro. Thus thee "...And All Was Lost" demo was born, on cassette of course. Then I had the idea to do an all acoustic version with all female vox. After that version was finished I sent a few copies out and wouldn't you know it, we were asked to play the Heathen Crusade II. Well we weren't even a live band. So we put one together and the HCII was our first gig ever. Basically if John and Kris from Mayhem productions never offered us the gig, this projeckt wouldn't exist. Two more gigs would follow on the same stage we started off on in St Paul MN.
During that time a few more songs were wrote, the line up would fluctuate, and with multiple trips to the studio, a full length and a demo would be the end result. A live line-up has been established and is working hard at rehearsals.
MIND
A tale of the end times, told thru powerful electric signals and electronic impulses, surrounded by a lush acoustic foray intertwined with sultry, synthetic under-layments, and a vast array of subsonic tones. Atmospheric and ambient textures are combined to create a syntheticlly sculpted organic sound~scape; layered with the warm, rich, frequencies project the essence of a soothing rainfall within a violent thunderstorm.
Driven by the slow and steady decimation of man, a natural pulse syncopated to the rhythmic destruction of life as we know it. Surrounded by piano and keys of a cold and callous nature. Graced with dark, alluring female vocals projected from the infinite depths of sorrow, and intertwined with a sombre clean male voice, while a dark, angry, hateful demonic voice illustrates the final moments before eternal darkness. The spiteful demonic screams, the sullen voice of humanity, with the sultry song of a siren who lures to doom; all convey their pity for mankind and create a heartfelt soundtrack for the one who has traveled from beginning to end.
