This veteran of new music genres, Haitian born Richard Laurent first pioneered the emergence of House Music in the late 80s as leader of MOONFOU, selling 250,000 of his original ATA Records hit, I SAY SHUT UP his first time out. Building on this amazing debut, he formed KRAZE in the mid 90s with his two sisters and ex-Madonna boyfriend, Norris Borroughs. With their very first outing for Big Beat Records, they hit ..1 worldwide on Billboard selling 850,000 copies! This sparked an international KRAZE tour, which took them to Australia, the UK, Amsterdam, Ireland, France, Switzerland, Germany, Japan and Tunisia.
By now, Laurent had already been researching a new passion called Bio Sonics, healing through vocal tones, frequencies, and sonic vibrations, the theory behind ultrasound. While in Tunisia, he sought out a group of healers he read were already doing this work. Hooked and fascinated, he stayed for many months studying with them. His swift and remarkable proficiency in channeling the healing, vibrational tones of meditative vocal chanting led the healers to dub him EARTHMAN.
I am lucky to have come from a culture where non-traditional healing is valued and to have also inherited the vocal aptitude of my mother, whos an incredible opera singer. Now is the time to help people tap into their own subconscious mind to be present to love at deeper levels. Love of self and others creates connection. Ive always had this ability to reach people and now I know how to share it with others. His powerful performance of Put Myself in Heaven is strong testimony to his gift.
In an effort to shine light on the atrocities and natural disasters that Haiti has been going through for the past 200 years. Earthman recently participated in a Benefit Concert for Haiti sponsored by Artist Relief Fund for Haiti (ARFH) and held at New Yorks Club SOBs. Earthman and his band were one of the openers for Grammy-award winning superstar WYCLEF JEAN & his partner JERRY WONDER. The packed SOBs house witnessed and raved the introduction of Earthman, a supreme force to be reckoned with in the new millennium. Earthman has also rocked Brooklyn's BAM CAFE and The New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC).
