"Everybody knows there's nothing doing
Everything is closed it's like a ruin
Everyone you see is half asleep
And you're on your own you're in the street
Good morning, good morning..."
Sounds Like
back in the kalimba-guitar days, Jake Van Horn on dobro
I toured the US as a one man band in 2008, from Maine to Florida to California to Oregon, and various points between. I make realtime beats with a homemade foot percussion device called the Noise Floor, play a Parker Fly guitar, harmonicas on a neck rack, and sing. In 2007 I created a kalimba-guitar (left). In 2009 there's a new band (The Cymbals), and I'm sitting in with The York Town Prophet. New songs are being sung, and the recording wheels are turning... here's a video I made, For the Dry Spells, with timelapse footage from Woodford County and Makanda Illinois, and rural coastal Maine.
The York Town Prophet played the first songs of the last show ever staged at The Hub Ballroom in Edelstein Illinois on June 12 2009. Vanilla Ice would've played there on June 26 but he never got the chance. In the early morning hours of June 23, The Hub burned to the ground. so long Hub!
