About me:

Together we can make a difference!

We believe that children are our future.

Their creativity, values, and choices will shape our society and create waves of impact that may someday be felt all over the planet -- perhaps for centuries to come.

It's up to us to help them make that impact a positive one.

And as research has shown, what kids learn in the first five years of life, and the quality of care they receive in that period, will form the core of who they become, as teenagers and as adults.

We believe this makes teachers and caregivers vitally important guardians and shapers of the future. And we at Earth's Kids are committed to connecting them with the information and resources they need to do this job capably and joyfully.

We also work with children, directly and through the materials on our website (www.earthskids.com), to teach them to value themselves, the environment, and their connection to all living things. An important part of our focus is to help young people understand the power that they possess to do good, and to connect them with opportunities to get involved with important causes and volunteer their time.

Finally, right now we know world events are setting the stage for the challenges our children will face as adults, and for the quality of life they will enjoy, or endure. So we at Earth's Kids are committed to working together with educators, activists, and other community leaders to share information, take action, and positively shape the world that our children will inherit. We hope you will join us.

But Earth's children face critical challenges

Good Parenting Is The Foundation Of Every Child's Well-being.

However, from the ordinary and inescapable trials that every family must surmount to the extraordinary perils unique to each generation, families often need help finding the information, support, and resources they need to triumph over the challenges confronting them.

Kids depend on us for a safe, loving foundation.

For more information on handling the day to day challenges that parents face, from potty training to good sleep routines to coping with sibling rivalry and selecting safe child care, be sure to visit

www.earthskids.com

Below are also a couple of the truly epic challenges that families face in our world today, along with links to information about how you can take action.

Global Warming: Facing the Challenge for Earth's Children

Global warming looms as one of the major crises of our times. But unlike war, disease, and pollution global warming threatens to create a change so sudden and so devastating to our economies, our food base, and even to the availability of habitable land, that it outstrips all threats save the nuclear holocaust we struggled (successfully)to prevent in decades past.

We stand now at a critical junction in history, where choices still remain to us, and a significant impact can still be made.

It is not too late to change the trajectory we are on, to affirm and protect life. To think and act with compassion, for ourselves and our fellow creatures.

The time is now to take action on behalf of our children, on behalf of all of the Earth's children...

Visit the Earth's Kids Global Warming special feature page to learn more about this critical environmental problem, and about what we all can do to help.

The potential cost of Global Warming is catastrophic.

Please view this updated version of the video on the cost/benefits analysis of ignoring our impact on climate change.

Poverty and Famine Wreak Unbelievable Hardship Among Children

But what can we do? Thankfully there are reputable and highly effective groups tackling this problem, in our communities and abroad, who have the experience and means to make a difference.

But they need our support. Share what you can. Pray. Volunteer. Spread the word to friends and community members. To learn more about these problems and how we can help, vist:

Who I'd like to meet:

We look forward to meeting and working together with educators, scientists, activists, and most of all... KIDS!

As we've indicated, we look forward to connecting with people looking to work together for common goals. But promoting get rich quick schemes is not one of these! Please do not attempt to promote yours here with comment posts or emails. All such spammers will be deleted.

The Importance of Building Community

Our most effective tools in creating change for children are compassion and community. From compassion comes our will to act. And from community comes our power to take action.

Together we can share information and creativity and shape solutions that work for all of us. But just as important, by forming communities -- not just of shared residence, but of shared purpose -- we give our children the experience of belonging to a larger group, a group that cares for them, values them and works to support them. And this in turn helps them learn to work together with others. It also boosts their self-esteem, confidence, and initiative.

We urge parents to seek out this experience, for your own well being and that of your children. Seek out play-groups, co-op schools, nurturing church or spiritual groups, and other volunteer dependent organizations that will join with you and your child in making positive change at the small group level. We think you will find this experience empowering, and slightly addictive! And we believe that it will become a beacon to you and your children, convincing you that we can make significant change in our communities, and also showing you how it can get done, with wisdom, compassion, and humanity.

We know that working together with compassionate concern, we can make a significant and lasting difference for all of Earth's Children.

Build community! Celebrate community!

    House of 1000 Mirrors
Long ago in a small, far away village, there was place known as the House of 1000 Mirrors. A small, happy little dog learned of this place and decided to visit. When he arrived, he bounced happily up the stairs to the doorway of the house. He looked through the doorway with his ears lifted high and his tail wagging as fast as it could. To his great surprise, he found himself staring at 1000 other happy little dogs with their tails wagging just as fast as his. He smiled a great smile, and was answered with 1000 great smiles just as warm and friendly. As he left the House, he thought to himself, “This is a wonderful place. I will come back and visit it often.”
In this same village, another little dog, who was not quite as happy as the first one, decided to visit the house. He slowly climbed the stairs and hung his head low as he looked into the door. When he saw the 1000 unfriendly looking dogs staring back at him, he growled at them and was horrified to see 1000 little dogs growling back at him. As he left, he thought to himself, “That is a horrible place, and I will never go back there again.”
All the faces in the world are mirrors. What kind of reflections do you see in the faces of the people you meet
