Greg Adams was recently quoted in an interview:
"You try to reinvent yourself every time you do a new project, to do something a little different and hopefully learn from the last project and grow. So we looked back at what some might say is my rich tapestry of experience in the music industry. With my funk and R&B background with Tower of Power and the influence it's had over my sound and the sound that I gave to TOP through those 25 years I was in the band.
Taking that sound and bringing it into 2008 creating an all new "Metro Jazz", really a new approach of a melting pot of contemporary urban rhythm and sound and combining all the sounds from the city. The ethnic sounds of the trials of tribulations, the hard fought, the victories, sweetness and sadness. It comes through in the music in all forms. It's world, it's metro, it's edgy, it's urban. It's East Bay. It's got Soul!"

Los Angeles, CA- Ripa Records will release East Bay Soul, the debut album from trumpeter producer Greg Adams’ project East Bay Soul, September 22nd, 2009. Adams, founding member of Tower of Power and legendary arranger, his signature sound made the Tower of Power horn section a sought out entity all it's own. Greg has made an urbane, soulful and lush recording that showcases his stylishly soulful arrangements. As a trumpet player, Adams alternates between a powerful open horn and sexy muted trumpet revealing the breadth and elegance he embodies. *******************************************

The sound has it’s root’s in the uniquely soul based genre associated with the San Francisco East Bay Area. It is however, R&B for our time. Watch and hear this band and you will find yourself in front of the stage, and people will be moving with the music. The timeless quality of the East Bay Soul sound knows no age limits.*****************************
***************************************************************************
Emmy and Grammy nominated Adams co wrote several songs with Nick Milo, his former band mate from Tower of Power and now Music Director for Joe Cocker. The opening track “Survival of the Hippest” unfolds with the epitome of cool, it’s horn laden track swells with complete commitment before Tom Bowes delivers a rap that is almost biographical as the title implies.*****************************************************************
***************************************************************************
Balancing the sultry and robust, the hopeful and the absolute. East Bay Soul excels on the west coast straight ahead “Bop Drop” that literally drops into “Reading Lips” jazz infused R&B soul drenched vocals of love in bloom.
***************************************************************************
Lee Thornburg emerges with his interpretation on Howard Tate’s 1960’s chestnut, “Stop”, and Adams’ arrangement is just what the song needed to bring the “full funk” of the track to life. Drawing on the inspirations of our times and awareness of new ideas, “iHope” asks the question of promise and possibilities, a message delivered with tremendous style by Darryl Walker. “Someone New” a stirring closing to the disc about emotional distances we must overcome to keep love alive and questions “Am I losing you?” *******************
**************************************************************************
Adams trust and confidence in what he has designed, is what makes East Bay Soul so exciting. “It took this much time for me to get here and to finally make this kind of record. I always knew it would happen."************************************************

MyHotCommentsEast Bay Soul, Trials and Tribulations will either make us More Holy, or More Sinful depending [GREATLY] on our Relationship to God/with God, Amen? Because when testings come (and they WILL come "IF" you are Walking right), WE will either TRUST God's purposes and FIND Peace, OR "we" can Trust in our OWN plans, start walking in the "Vanity of our mind", thereby developing a NEGATIVE OUTLOOK or DISPOSITION and thus DEVELOPING A BITTER, and CYNICAL heart. We may NOT like our situation (and in MOST cases "we" WON'T), BUT, because WE "Are CHRISTIANS"; because we are a "Chosen Generation; because we are a Royal Priesthood; because we are a Holy Nation and a Peculiar People"...WE... "SHOULD"... LOVE...GOD and WE...MUST...TRUST..."HIS"...WILL FOR OUR LIVES!
The Bible says "And going a little further, He threw Himself upon the ground on His face and prayed saying, My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass away from Me, nevertheless, not what I will [not what I desire], but as You will and desire" (Matt.26:39 AMP).
The Bible also says "For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome" (Jer.29:11 AMP). Is that where the phrase "Trusting God's Purposes" came from......Hmmm?!!?
Not a Sermon, Just a recent Revelation. YBIC, Richard -aka- MEGA VOICES GOLD!
Greg, I cannot take the CD out of the car, just keep listening over and over again. Every single cut has its own highpoint. Some of the grooves are absolutely addictive- thanks for a great recording! GJG
Let me congratulate you on your wonderful album! It took me 3 listening sessions to absorb the material but it is really great. Cool in a very relaxed, effortless way. No muscle, no sweat - just fine compositions and musicianship. And even with the laid-back feel, the music has the power of a V8 engine. Exceptional. Best wishes to all of you, Zoltan
Loved watching the session videos! I wish each and every one of you the best success with this new CD. And I will be picking it up! My only hope is the EBS will be able to play in the East Bay!!!!!!!! I will be so there. I am loving what I hear!
Thanks so much for the Add–and your friendship. We enjoyed your music very much. Thanks for sharing it with all of us. It's a pleasure having you among our friends! We've just added two new blogs about Umano, plus four more new compositions, making ten on our space. We hope you and your friends visit us and enjoy our music, too. We wake up every morning and play the music of the new MySpace friends who have arrived at our site during the night. It occurred to us that these friends (you are among them) are almost universally positive, whether they be novices or legends, and without regard to their station in life or the country they occupy. Although it's not an original thought, it also occurred to us that we couldn’t hold a verbal conversation with most of these friends, but we have bridged that gap by expressing our art honestly with each other. We all have been filling the world with our music and art, in the hope that our messages of love and human understanding will have an impact on the world at large. What a gift and what an opportunity we have received from this technology!
Whats Up? I just wanted to drop by and leave you with the new info on me and DreamScape Sessions..The flyer below is a personal invite to our radio station... Click on Flyer For FULL VIEW
