Guidelines
| 1. |
All entries must be postmarked by the deadline date or will be disqualified. All entries must be accompanied by the appropriate entry fee which is $10 for the first entry and $5 dollars for each additional entry up to a total of 3. Online submissions with credit card payment will be accepted through pay pal on entry form. Mailed entries will accept money orders or personal check for total amount made out to East Coast Writers.

A cover sheet or the entry form must accompany all submissions and include your name, address, and titles of your submissions. Your name should not appear on submissions of work, only on the cover sheet. |

Please keep your originals and send only copies as works will not be returned. |
| 4. |
All entries must not exceed the stated word count or will be disqualified. The word limit for the Categories of Fiction and Non Fiction is 2500 words. Poetry is limited to 72 lines not including the title. The children’s category is limited to 1500 words. Submissions should be typed and double spaced in an acceptable fontsize of 10 or 12. |

Print one of the following contest names under your return address on the envelope you send your submission in. (Fiction - Non Fiction - Poetry - Childrens ) If more than one category is being entered print the category for each entry under the return address. |

All entries submitted must not have been previously published or be pending publication during this contest. |

Judging and Notification
-
Every entry will be read by the judges. Judges' decisions are final.

Entries must be postmarked by April 15th, 2007. We cannot return submitted manuscripts, if you would like notification of receipt include a send a self-addressed stamped postcard.

The winners must agree to have their work published in the East Coast Journal which is printed bi-annually. No further copyrights will be owned by East Coast Writers.

Not permitted to enter the contest are any employees or family members or winners in the immediately previous year of the current East Coast Writers contest. Previous winners may enter a category different than their winning submission from the prior contest.

Winners will be notified through U.S. mail by the date of June 15th following the contest. Awards and prizes will be sent via U.S. mail. All winners will also receive a complimentary copy of the East Coast Journal Publication with their works included.

The East Coast Writing Contest is held twice yearly with deadlines of April 15th and November 15th. Please request to be on our mailing list by sending request through our email address below.

For the 2007 April contest the topic areas are open. Any subject matter will be accepted. We are looking for originality and creativeness.
