EAST INDIA COMPANY is/was a half-jewish foursome that practice(s/d) in a basement near Paul & Eddy's Pizza in Hamden, CT. Featuring members of the Anti-Dentites, the Pseudo-Superheroes and the short-lived Mama Urff, EIC was a step away from the wild and tangled you-name-it-core of the foursome's youth. Adopting a more "slow lovin'" approach and adding upright bass, trumpet and organ to the mix, they developed into a sort of folk orchestra in a proverbial pokeball. They appear, without fail, accompanied by an eighteen-inch tall monster named Louise (not to be confused with Louise Polisson, the Anti-Dentites' gender-shifting guitar player).
What people say about East India Company:

- Lou Barlow (Dinosaur Jr, Sebadoh, The Folk Implosion)
"Here's an endearingly ramshackle EP that combines gravitas and playfulness via unorthodox instrumentation and rough-and-ready production...this disc suggests they're onto something."
- The New Haven Advocate
"a great band"
- Stone Wheel
